What VST/VSTi do you use with MU.LAB?

Hi

With the view of encouraging as many members to actively take part in the MUTOOLS Forum and make the forum more alive.

MU.LAB has excellent built-in synths and effects and Jo has developed probably the best seamless integration of OEM VST/VSTi I have ever seen in a DAW.

I use mulab for both its internal synths/effects and OEM VST/VSTi integration.

To this end I thought it might be a good idea for the Newbies and for that matter existing users of mulab to see what people are actually using with mulab.

I will start off with my own list, some are freeware others are not. I would like to know what other users of mulab are using. I am only really interested in VST/VSTi that work well in mulab and are worth recommending to mulab users.

Please feel free to add what you use to this topic.

I use the following freeware:

Drumatic 3
Gsuite
Oatmeal
GenesisCM
Synth1
SuperwaveP8

I have bought and use these:

FM7
z3ta+
impOSCar
VSM
Sylenth1
Minimonsta
ToxicIII
Superwave Trance & Pro
Battery 3

All the above work seamlessly with mulab and mulab stays steady as a rock.

The MUTOOLS forum should not just be, I want mulab to do this and do that. This works that does not. It should also be how people use mulab. After all mulab is the centre of your music writing/recording.

I look forward to your replies and to see what other mulab users use.

Kind regards

The list of incompatible plugins is probably shorter.

Hi pljones,

Thanks for the reply, I probably have used the wrong word "compatible". I was really asking mulab users what OEM effects and VSTi they have and use with mulab.

I am aware that most VST/VSTi work in mulab and the ones that do not are not Jo's problem as mulab treats VST/VSTi as "black boxes".

I was just trying to see what other users are actually using. Sorry for the rubbish title of the topic.

Anyway nice to hear from you.

DirecWave half way down GUI is missing when loaded.
Something in energyXt but I wonder if Jo knows why. It's a great tool and I wouldn't mind to have it in MuLab

Could be probably FL 100% responsibility but you never know.
Anyway not a priority 1.

Just reporting in case someone has a solution beside Jo.

Hi

Sorry to pljones and liquidsound. I have now changed the topic title to reflect what I was raising in this topic.

Sorry for being misleading.

Unfortunately, I can't give a constructive answer right now. My music PC is dead... So "none" ;)

My backup drive has 425 VST installers on it (some old versions, some with multiple VSTs). And as, I rely on MU.LAB, that's pretty much 425 VSTs I use in MU.LAB! :D

OK, so I don't really use them all.

Critical VSTs:
Kjaerhus Classic effects. Don't leave home without them.
MDA effects. Same.
SFZ
MrRay73v2
digitalfishphone's fish fillets. Another essential set.

A lot of the time in MU.LAB, I'm experimenting with the built-in, though. MUX and the other tools are incredible.

No other takers on this topic?

Hi anubis2010! If Native Instruments are still running the upgrade from FM7 to FM8, I think you should get it because it's great! :) Cost me about 50 Euro or something, which included delivery!

FM8 is a very good instrument. I had the very first DX7s but I never got around FM programing. My choice though for FM is BLUE. Like I mention this before you will need with BLUE a Sub-woofer made by Tesla :D :D :D

Hi Aloysius,

Like liquidsound I had the original model DX7 MKI and only just sold it on ebay. I found an ebay bloke that was selling his old NI FM7. I won and got the licence transfered by NI.

It was really a straight swap, sort of. DX7 (big and heavy) FM7 (tiny). I like the look of the FM7 and the fact it does do DX7 and a bit more and no more, if you see what I mean. Retro VSTi if there is such a thing.

What with Sylenth1, z3ta+ and FM7.I can get most of the sounds I am after. The other buyware I have just adds the other kind of noises. I like the G-Force stuff also.

Make a lot of sense to me anubis2010 ;)

anubis2010: add Zebra2 and you will need a pair of reincarnations to run out of sounds... :D

Greetings pquenin,

Just the sort of answer I set this topic up for.

I am sure newbies and other users of MU.LAB will find this kind of thing useful.

I too have tried some on your list before. Some are new to me. Although I have sadly reached my own VST/VSTi Utopia.

I may just take a quick snoop around the interweb and check out some on your list I have not tried yet. (old habits die hard).

Thanks again for your list.
