Hi,
Could you please explain how the keyswitch setup is supposed to work?

I want to set up multiple parts and switch between different bass lines by turning them on and off with note.on/off commands. I assume this it what the live performance key switching mode does?

I have a Novation Nocturn, running UVI in Reaper.

The instructions on page 22 of the manual re: Key Switch are very vague.
I turn it on, hit a Nocturn button mapped to a key, and it seems to detect it setting the Keyswitch to the key, but then nothing seems to work.

I know the nocturn is transmitting midi note on/off ok, but I can't seem to get UVI to recognise the notes and turn different parts on and off on the fly.
It does not seem to respond.

There is no explanation of clicking on the key switch and why it goes red.

What exactly do I need to do to get multiple parts to turn on/off via key switch?

Thanks for a great tool btw. Apart from this little issue it seems fantastic.

Hi,

I don't think Keyswitches are what you're looking for, those allow to switch where the MIDI input goes when several part on the same channel, but it won't affect audio.

In your case, it looks like you're using audio loops and wants to trigger those with different key.

Follow those steps and I think you'll be happy :)

* enable const in the right of the edit page: the loop will now don't take into account MIDI pitch.(NoteTracking of 0)
(optional) * enable latch in the loop page.(so note on, launch the loop and and another note on stop it)
* set all parts where your loops are to use the same input MIDI Channel.
(where it's written A1, A2, ..) usually A1.
* In Expert mode, limit the range of each part to the key you want to use for triggering the loop on this part. LowKey and HighKey to the same value and don't forget to enable the checkbox on the left of those two values.
If you double click the LowKey or HighKey, the text becomes red and wait for a midi input to set the new value.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately this issue is occurring even if I try to create the favorites from the HD (going in via the Devices drop down)

For instance my audio loops are in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\JI Library\Audio Loops and I can add 'Audio Loops' to to Favorites OK. But my Rex2 loops are in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\JI Library\Audio Loops\Rex2 and this wont stick at all even if I go in through the devices drop down.

Hope we can get to the bottom of this. I'm looking with lust at some of your libraries :)

Cheers
Jed
I just give it a quick try and it's working fine here.

* Few questions to find what may be the cause of this issue
Is your Rex2 folder a shortcut to another folder ? in that case, try the original folder

* Have you another folder named Rex2 already there in the places ?
Rename the other one.

Hope this helps.

No in both cases Olivier! I wonder what on earth is going on?

EDIT : I just completely removed UVI Workstation and all references to it in the registry, and then re-installed - now OK! Sorry to have bothered you

@otristan

Hello, I would like to know how to create my own patches for UVI.
Does UVI is able to load patches created by Motu Mach five?

I think UVI is a great concept, me as a soundware developer I am interested
in creating my own patches and programs.
As also converting some of my existing products to a UVI readable format.

Any information about this would be very helpful!

Thank you in advance,
cheers,
Rene

Glad it works. Still it's pretty weird.
I suppose there was already a favorite named after a Rex2 folder and that's why it didn't wanted to add a new one.

Many thanx Olivier it looks great..Is it as a download or retail box ? BTW I own most of your products and long time a go you promised for microtuner option but still noting! also in Ircam Solo Instruments string patches such violin, why there isn't a legato+legato portamento through KS or mod. wheel?

Shakuman.

Hi,

This product is available at both format

for the boxed version, you need to use the following website.
http://www.ultimatesoundbank.com/uvisc9.html

Regarding micro tuning, it's funny because I was working on it yesterday.
Not yet integrated in UVIWorkstation, but hopefully it will be.
This is something based on Scala.
If you know what kind of scales would be interesting to bundle with the software, don't hesitate.

There is no legato option because this is not something trivial when working with sample (at least for a good sounding one).
We have some idea on it. Don't hold your breath though.

Hello Olivier,
the latest version 1.0.16 crashes in standalone mode when I try to open the "audio and midi settings" window, and also when I try to exit the software (by clicking on the X). The software freezes when I try these things.
Anything I can do to change that?

Windows XP SP3, 3Ghz P4, 2Gb Ram, just in case you need to know this.

Cheers,

Viktor

Is this something new to 1.0.16 ?

You can try removing the StandAlone preferences in the registry
using regedit at /HKEY_CURRENT_USER/com.uvisoundsource/UVIWorkstation
remove the SA folder.
(Start > Run... > regedit)

If this doesn't work, which soundcard are you using with which API(MME, ASIO) ?

Hope this helps.
