Yes. LP Vintage2 will be fixed and updated to the same specs. That's the plan at least...hakey wrote:Urs wrote:This filter *is* the most perfect filter I have written so far.I think you mentioned that it was based on Zebra's LPVintage2, so, will any of it be finding its way back into Zebra?

I personally wouldn't mind that. They will certainly "sound", although different. I remember when ES2 was in it's early stages, and testers started programming patches for it. It happened too that later versions sometimes altered some things in ways that made the patches sound different, and we had to tweak them again to get the sound. In that process, I always came up with interesting ideas for new patches, and with a deeper understanding of the overall architecture and the interrelations between the different modules. I wouldn't mind to go over this again.Urs wrote:I'm not quite sure yet if patches will even sound the same in the final version. I was contemplating a few tweaks, but nothing really serious though. For instance there might be a knob on the Trimpots page that lets one limit the strength of the Res waveforms so tehy can be levelled in combination with any other waveform. Also, the filter resonance is still a bit tricky because self oscillation starts at 50.00 in the bass up to 54.00 in higher timbres, and values over 50.00 detune the self oscillation frequency. This is because of an inconsistent phase shift at the cutoff frequency. I'll compensate for that if possible - unless it's another percent of cpu.

Will do, will do...MCnoone wrote:Urs, you mentioned before, a problem with the Mac PPC version of Bazille.

Thanks.
As work is a no-go this week (too much feedback... which is good... but I need it to calm down to develop) I'm currently preparing some web stuff... such as uhniverse.com and that sound design community I mentioned...

Very ugly, and very cool! Alive, I tell ya...justin3am wrote:I've been trying to coax the ugliest sounds I can out of this thing. I think this comes close.

Oscillators one and two are rectified, osc 2 is then inverted and it's phase is offset by 90 degrees and they are summed together. Finally osc one is FMing osc two and vice versa. Some filters too.

+1 (great post)porfiry wrote: I wouldn't even step into this thread if you hadn't mentioned the filters, Urs...please don't change them much. All your stuff I've messed with indicates that you're a perfectionist, but sometimes perfection lies in imperfections...those filters are what seals the deal for me. I love the wacky shit the oscillators do, and the multipliers and the stuff I've hardly explored in the upper right corner are all nice touches, but those filters are deadly.
I've never understood why there are no softsynths that have That Growl, and finally you've provided one. I noticed all the weird things that happen upon turning the gain and resonance knobs, but none of that makes it unusable by any stretch. All the great old equipment, whether it's a Telecaster or a Marshall Plexi or an OSCar, has at least one feature that's weird. Don't fear leaving your own bit of quirk in this genius little thing.

Many (most? all?) hosts use non-compositing windows. These have cable redraw errors, and I think some cabkes are drawn in Nirvana, which may cause a system wide or application wide stall...pdxindy wrote:what is the problem with the PPC version?MCnoone wrote:Urs, you mentioned before, a problem with the Mac PPC version of Bazille.

oh yeah... that error is there all the time... glad there is no (so far) audio problem!Urs wrote:Many (most? all?) hosts use non-compositing windows. love to play with that self-modulating sequencer.
some instant techno sequences there. you just have to tune for those sweetspots between utter chaos and stability. it would be cool to be able to pinpoint these sweetspots and then be able to jump through these fixed conditions.
ah, i'll post a sound example to illutsrate:
http://rapidshare.com/files/263747307/s ... etspot.mp3
definately a synth i will use A LOT.
thx

The Bazille filter really does sound tasty, Urs...it has a juiciness and sizzle and character to it that stands out in a mix (I already dropped a couple of Bazille patches into my current track). The prospect of having this filter available in Zebra 2.5 as well is very cool.

totally cool. But Zebra 2.5, uhbik G and X would be nice (at least before summer is over and the busy school year is in session again
)
think about us poor, bored students urs
joking. *Waits patiently and wants to hear the new Howard Scarr presets that will come with Zebra 2.5?*

Thanks Urs, you are very generous for let us test Bazile, it is very stable on my single core Pentium 4 (sounds amazingly nice), but like you said, I should definitely buy a new PC before think in buying Bazile, when I play a 3 note chord the CPU jumps to 100%.
