Hi Jens,

The MIDI editing of EnergyXT has been nicely demonstrated by liquidsounds video. The comparison was being made against M2 with the view of making M3 even better and it sounds like Jo too has been impressed with a lot of what liquidsound has shown in his video.

As for EnergyXT2.5.x being more complete it refers to the application as a whole as it already has time stretch and freeze track. The point I am making is that it is a good A/B against the younger MU.LAB.

EnergyXT seems to have found its way, whether you think it good or bad. MU.LAB is not yet set in stone and can benefit from looking at its competition.

I am not here to say one is better that the other more seeing what MU.LAB is up against in the market place and for me EnergyXT is a good A/B.

I am glad you have voiced your opinion. Why not tell us about your experiences with DAWs etc in the "Who are you" topic.

(Oh and by the way I have been giving EnergyXT 2.5.x a good going over and so far not one crash, z3ta+ has not missed a beat. Maybe I am in the minority but I am enjoying the app tremendously.)

As with MU.LAB, EnergyXT is not finished either, both are under developement and I respect the hard work by both teams, I wish I could program something as good as these two DAWs but I cannot.

But as I said I will spend an entire week on the app.

Jens, nice to here from you this forum needs as many opinions as possible and I could not careless if your opinions are anti mine I want to hear them and I guess Jo does to, keep your comments coming.

Ah, ok i see.
The brilliant use of the RMB is that is used to achieving "4 Very Important Actions" in the proper order of usage and priority in most cases:

RMB = Free Scroll
RMB = Delete
RMB = Context Menu
RMB+Alt = Split Note
MU.LAB 3 has greatly improved editor navigation much like the things you demonstrated in the video.

That was one of the first things i implemented in M3.

It's not 100% the same as in XT, but it will be good :)

And thanks to your video, i did some extra finetunings already.

I propose we continue this discussion about basic editor navigation as soon as M3 Test A is out, because then we have something concrete to check out & to talk about.

Thanks again for the video, very interesting!
I know you have a deal with the Context Menu
M3 can do RMB scrolling ;)
The program I am using is Camtasia Studio 5, a standard in Video Tutorials, which I use to create CAD tutorials for my designers when they hit a wall.
Ah, thanks for the info!
Now you have Two people that would like to sit with you and have a cup of coffee (when I will return home to Europe). :roll:
:)

Well maybe one day there will be a MU.LAB gathering in Antwerp, Belgium.

Or even Better. 8)

Jo, I am mostly a composer and not a Power User.
My input is based on heavy daily usage of basic tools and I think that that's important also.

Here in this forum I know there are people with very good knowledge of DAW and MuLab etc.
I never go so deep because my focus is music, keeping it simple, and this is why MuLab: Simple.

BUT I know your DAW is also deep and in many ways powerful.
If I knew it better, and believe I know very little yet about it, I would publish many little video tutorials to help the music community to see what's in here.

I truly believe this DAW will make many heads turn in the future version and I hope by then to know it a little better in order to do those videos.

Looking forward to the next release.

Best wishes.

A very happy and grateful user. :wink:

I used to use (and be a rabid fan of) FLStudio 8 on Windows Vista but I moved to the Macintosh a few months ago. FLStudio is written in borland Delphi so there is no hope of it getting ported to OSX so I started DAW hunting. I stumbled across MULAB and EnergyXT2.

XT2 is a brilliant package but MULAB's pure ease of use (especially in the Modular area), smooth workflow and the built in effects (MUVERB is especially good at making those oh so important Laserdance style gated snare drums. MULAB LinnDrum - plays in browser) drove me to buy it instantly.

Audio recording is painless and doesn't leave a bunch of junky files behind like FLStudio which was another big bonus since the majority of my Music comes from external hardware. It's my main DAW and I couldn't be happier.

You have yourself one very satisfied customer here! :D

Do you chip-tune?

Yes MuLab is a better DAW overall compared to XT.

I couldn't never get a good relationship with FL8. One thing FL8 has and I have never seen this anywhere else is the Cursor Speaker in the Piano-Roll.

You grab the thing and pass it over your sequence and manually scan everything in such a luxury detail impossible to top it by any other method.

I wish it was here in MuLab. A killer analyzer.
Should be put it in the Wish List?

Opinions please...... :wink:

Yes, certainly a nice feature.

But just to keep the MU.LAB whishlist a bit realistic, i won't yet add it at this time. Maybe lateron. (otherwise i could just add every single good feature of all existing DAWS. Of course this is what we all whish; but it's not realistic. Realism tells we have to make choices)

In MU.LAB, you can monitor notes using the Glass tool.
In the Note Editor, hold [Alt] while clicking.
