Still didn't try it. And i'm affraid to. I'll probably fall in love, and then one day, it'll stop working. Like most of my girlfriends.

Very nice indeed! It kind of reminds me of NiN/Stabbing Westward. Smart thing to bounce the tracks to WAV for posterity (and not to mention CPU usageporfiry wrote:My song Rhythm Worship here uses three Bazilles. I made sure to flatten them to audio, in case it doesn't sound like itself a few months from now!
Thanks for sharing!

Justin...wow. This is so far from what I'd consider "generic electronic". There wasn't a single supersaw in therejustin3am wrote:Some pretty generic electronic music...

This is by far my favorite song/clip of yours you've posted up to now. I think I'm gonna load that sucker on my ipod...

I hope that if it is programmed to "expire" at some point that there will be a new public beta or commercial version available by then. Even if it eats CPU like candy and tends to crash Sonar if I leave it in a session and then try to re-open the session (which I work around by simply rendering to audio as I go), I'm quickly becoming attached to it and would hate to be without it. Even doing basic stuff like running saws through lowpass and bandpass filtering, it just sounds really, really good.Still didn't try it. And i'm affraid to. Yep, I'll make sure... I think it expires in October or November. I hope to have an official preview version by then (for an introduction price, of course), maybe with 2 or 3 systems already.Vectorman wrote:I hope that if it is programmed to "expire" at some point that there will be a new public beta or commercial version available by then.

This is great news, I'd have to agree with the previous posters that you've made something special again.
I've been absolutely fascinated with the complex and chaotic timbres I can patch with Bazille. The idea of multiple modular systems that can be modulated at sample rate (or darn close to it) is exactly what I'd been waiting for.
I'm sure you have lots of ideas for sub-systems within the Berlin Modular, certainly one that allows external inputs. I'd also like to have some simple delay lines that I could freely patch between the oscillators and filters and modulate at sample rates. A nice vactrol like filter that I could "ping" with a short snappy envelope and get that wonderful natural sounding ringing behavior would be useful.
Lastly it'd be ideal to have at least one system that was designed to be monophonic only, and would allow decoupling of the envelope generators from midi, perhaps add gate or trigger outputs from the sequencer stages, in general even greater complexity and module count as it wouldn't have to worry about rendering multiple voices.
BTW, the sequencer is amazing, I can see there are a lot of possibilities in this design that I've barely begun to investigate. Keep up the great work!

As for future system wishes, my personal one would be a system that has less oscillators/envelopes/whatever to open up some space, and fill the gaps with some really twisted module emulations like the ones people like to spice their eurorack systems with, i.e. Tyme Sefari, QMMG, Malgorithm, etc. Since a lot of those modules are digital, it would kind of fit into the spirit of this thing, I think.
Things would get pretty insane if one could chain up an FX version and some really gnarly systems like this.
Totally delighted to hear that there's going to be an official preview so soon, and with extra systems even! Cannot wait.

I probably shouldn't even have mentioned it at this stage, as I recall you said you didn't want to hear about crashes just yet (LOL) and I know you have other things you're trying to focus on (Zebra 2.5 and such).Hehe... yes... but what about that crash? That's new to me...
But basically, the first time I saved a Sonar session with a Bazille instance in it, upon trying to re-open it, I got a message to the effect that Sonar had to quit because of some error in Bazille. Ever since, I've just been rendering all my Bazilles to audio and removing them from the session before saving. I am however on Sonar 7 still, not the most current version. If you like, I can try to reproduce the crash and make a note of the exact error message for future reference.

is ready. Thanks Urs, this is my dream synth. I've wanted something like
this in software for years

In Bazille everything is about 4 times the sample rate (unless it's oversampled even more internally). If you use the switches on the Trimpots page, you can get some things to work at "only" samplerate, to the effect of added aliasing.Mark Landman wrote:I've been absolutely fascinated with the complex and chaotic timbres I can patch with Bazille. Yeah, there's a lot... But as always, time is the enemy. At some point I'll have to release, and then it'll take a while till I can go back to things...I'm sure you have lots of ideas for sub-systems within the Berlin Modular

My Eurorack is pretty "traditional" at the moment, mostly focussing on some quality components to "get a feel" for it. Got some Cwejman stuff, some AS and a Frequensteiner.porfiry wrote:As for future system wishes, my personal one would be a system that has less oscillators/envelopes/whatever to open up some space, and fill the gaps with some really twisted module emulations like the ones people like to spice their eurorack systems with, i.e. Tyme Sefari, QMMG, Malgorithm, etc. Since a lot of those modules are digital, it would kind of fit into the spirit of this thing, I think.

However, even though I shouldn't give it away just yet, I have plans for a module that'll be available in every system in the Expansion slot: Circuit Bender. It'll allow you to generate crosstalk and binary operations between internal variables. I'm not quite sure what it'll do, and it'll contain a lot of randomness, but it'll certainly make things go really, really strange. I havn't done it yet, and it might be a really stupid idea but it may as well be the holy grail of bleep. We'll see...
As for the others... I havn't fully understood the west coast side of synthesis (Berlin is pretty easty-ish... not just geographically... TD were the first West-German rock band to rock Warsaw IIRC). I understand that there's a massive load of really interesting devices out there, but my current concern is foremost about sonic quality of basic components. I think once that's sussed out and when the first twenty copies or so are sold I can probably go to Schneider's Büro and have them talk me into some serious stuff. If they still let me in, that is...

Oops, sorry Urs, what I meant was at that high 4X rate, not typical soft synth mod rates. The clean high rate audio modulation of all the various parameters is what I really enjoy about Bazille. In Bazille everything is about 4 times the sample rate (unless it's oversampled even more internally). If you use the switches on the Trimpots page, you can get some things to work at "only" samplerate, to the effect of added aliasing.
