Don't worry. My head will be on the chopping block before yours. It's literally my first patch, but I kind of like it. This will prove that I have neither talent nor taste.Debby747 wrote:Alright guys,
I've submitted my patch and hope you won't kill me...

(I was waiting until after the deadline, just in case anyone else sent their entry to me. Anyway, I've sent my submission and Kyran's. If any more come my way before the deadline I'll pass them on.)
EDIT: I've just received another entry - it's probably easiest if I wait until after the deadline to forward what I've got.

Ok, it's after Midnight Monday GMT. Here's the link to the submitted presets, 19 in all.
http://u-he.com/PatchLib/presets/z2/ZPC-02.zip
There are two folders:
Normalized/
Original/
Normalized I tried to get them to all have as similar a volume level as possible. Some of them are so dynamic it's really not possible and there are a few stray transients if you play several notes. Not being able to use the compressor in the effects makes it tough to tame them
I normalized them in Reaper, I hope that translates well to other hosts. If they're way off please tell me so I know for the future (as well as my own personal interest).
Original contains the presets as pristine as possible from the author. I did have to do some minor renaming and removal of names though.
Every preset that ends with '+' has one or more XY macro controller mapped, so be sure to use them. Also be sure to read the info for the presets, there's some info about certain presets having an ARP preset included, for example.
I don't plan on voting since I know who submitted what. I'm assuming hakey will use the same 3,2,1 point method as before.
I *highly* recommend turning down your headphones/monitors when first auditioning the presets, some have a high energy content.
After all is said and done I'll release who made what preset. Good luck to all who entered; once again there's quite a few excellent presets in here.

By the way... make sure to spread the word on other forums to make this one (and others to follow) interesting!

Great!
Went through them already.
Good job on the level settings bmrzycki.
The levels are a little too high in my Live but not that much. It didn't go into the red too much.
Anyone have any good ideas for the next patch competition?
I like real instrument emulation.(excluding synth emulation)

The website I was setting up for this kind of stuff is almost finished... unfortunately it hasn't got any content at all yet, and maybe it needs another joomla plugin to organize the contests.MCnoone wrote:Anyone have any good ideas for the next patch competition?

I'd be up for that. See what everyone else thinks - some might think it too difficult, or just too boring ('synths should sound like synths innit!').MCnoone wrote:Anyone have any good ideas for the next patch competition?

A similar idea would be to make a patch based upon the techniques described in Sound on Sound's Synth Secrets series.

On a side note, I've talked to Hans aka wonshu (who'll be the editor of that patch design website) and we'll start doing contests in September. Each contest will go for a month to make things easy to follow.
So maybe we should just do the next contest here? I'll happily donate another Berlin Modular for the winner (or first runners up who hasn't got it yet), once it's out of course...
