Hi folks,

We have a new release

This new version 1.9.9.11 has the following updates:

1. NEW: Now the archive file includes the "Quick Start Manual" as well. Although the manual is only 9 pages right now, I'm hoping to finish it by Friday. Just check it out, I'm writing down every tip&trick that comes to my mind :)
2. NEW: Added triplet/dotted tempo sync controls to LFOs.
3. NEW: We have 20 more presets created by FragileX, which brings our total preset count to 70, including Ingonator's previous 50. You guys just rock!
4. FIX: LFO step/glide mode: Volume has no effect
5. FIX: Changing preset browser filter and load a different preset crashes SynthMaster Standalone/VST.

Ingonator wrote: 1.) When loading an Ableton Live project now, after opening the GUI the right patch is playing but i don't see the name of the current patch. For later work it would be nice to see which patch is currently selected. Maybe the current patch could be also highlighted in the list of the browser.
I just realized that I am not saving preset name when saving preset data. That means that a SynthMaster 2.0 VST plugin instance doesnt know that name of the preset :( My bad. Anyhow, will fix this one tonight.

About highlighting in the browser: Might add that one later on.

BTW, are the preset categories enough?

If not, we can add more categories? You can even do that yourself. Just edit the following lines in Config\SynthMasterConfig.txt:

Preset Categories=Additive,Analog,Amplitude Mod,Arpeggiated,Bass,Brass,Digital,Drums,Guitar,Frequency Mod,FX,Flute,Keys,Layered,Lead,Organ,Pad,Piano,Physical Model,Phase Mod,Percussion,Ring Mod,Reed,Strings,Sequence,Tutorial,Vocal

Preset Styles=Baroque,Blues,Bluegrass,Breakbeat,Classical,Chillout,Country,Disco,Dance,Ethnic,Electronica,HipHop,Funk,Folk,Jazz,Latin,Metal,Reggea,Pop,Rock,Soul,Trance

Extremely useful! In synthmaster one, which I bought only a few weeks ago, the tutorials were incredibly useful, so I expect this one to be such a huge help. I read about 5 pages up to now, it is superbly laid out, with indepth-explanations about the topics touched so far, couldn't be better I think. There is one small typo that is indeed so unimportant that rather no user could misunderstand things (turning of unison, which should be "turning off unison" on page 2 - by the way - another most useful feature, and great you mentioned it, as without reading the pdf I surely would have not understood it right, people, read it:). If you play 8 voices with Synthmaster2, each having 8 unison voices, you are still using 8 voices, not 64).

Hints like on page 7 about unison and velocity spread, velocity error and midi velocity are extremely useful.
All is explained with pictures, which to me seems a very good thing in the example above, as not only seasoned and most experienced users should use this monster :).

Really a good read.

excuse me if this is already mentioned - had no time reading all 24 pages.

[bug with polyphony settings]
If in the latest beta you choose any preset, and change the polyphony from 64 to say 8 or whatever you want, with some presets you get dropouts of sound, others while changing around at some point "freeze" the sound, meaning you hear the preset of parts of it, but can't play anything. Changing the preset doesn't always stop this behaviour. In Reaper I just unticked the fx checkbox, and ticked it again, switched to a different preset. Worked, I could noodle. Then changing the polyphony always reproduced the bug.

I'm glad there's a manual....but are we that close to having this ready? Is 2.0 64-bit compatible? I'm still getting this sound of little alarm sounding beeps in the background of any patch I try. I can only try it as a standalone on this particular machine as I have no host sequencer program that works on it.

As a workaround, you can disable your current sound scheme from your Windows Control Panel. Sorry about that annoying bug/feature, will fix it soon.
