hey urs ,

ive just purchased zebra , brilliant ! :D , i just have a few questions -

how do u assign midi controllers to modulation sources ? , (im using logic 6) , in hyperdraw i just get a listing of zebra controllers no.1-16 and i cant find any midi cc listings in the documentation.
is is possible to assign mod sources , e.g env1 to control the XY controllers ?

ok i have just 1 suggestion -

an 8/16 step sequencer (freerun/sync) , (kinda like the cyclotron from pluggo((http://www.cycling74.com/products/plugi ... otron.html)) that could be used to modulate any parameter in zebra.
or an 8 step filter like an zvex ooh-wah pedal (http://www.zvex.com/ooh-wah.mp3)

anyway thanks for a wonderous synth

Hiya,

thanks :D

I just set up the user manual (see new topic in this forum)... it's all in there...

If you look into the ReadMe, I have planned an 8 time/level envelope :D

Unfortunately, it is *absolutely* impossible to assign modulators to the XYs. Maybe I'll have a look into that, but it would seriously require much more than I think you would gain...

Cheers,

;) Urs

:?:
hello, I'm sure I missed something, but in the manual I didn't find a real explanation about how to use "midilearn", especially how to check which controllers are assigned to which knobs. Can you please tell me where I can read this?

Hiya,

any control that can be automated can be MidiCC'ed.

Just ctrl-click the knob/display and turn a knob on your control box.

These settings currently only save with preset.

I've never been a big fan of MidiCCing, but I now bought a Novation Remote25, so please count on better implementation with better user feedback in the near future...

thanks urs,

btw of course first I have to say that the longer I play with the zebra, the more I get in love with it.

But I have two more questions: Is it possible to un-assign a controller, too (I had a time when osc2 tune was constantly reset to -48 because it was married to ctl #1. Somehow I must have managed to unassign it now, but how did I do this... ;)

And: Are "Damp" and "Engage" really no possible modulation destinations? I didn't get them X/Y'ed...

Hehe,

Midi-Un-Learn is simply [ctrl]-clicking twice on a knob. (Have I forgotten to say so in the Manual?)

Well, Damp and Engage belong to the super cpu-hungry additive synthesis. Everytime they change, a whole set of waveforms is generated, like a multisample in a sampler device. This was just too expensive to let this stuff be automatable/XYable/MidiCCable.

But there's something in the pipeline regarding this, check teases & announcements in late Q1 2004 :D

Cheers,

;) Urs
