Err... what old sequencer, the one in Reason 4? It's the same damn sequencer, except the one in Record has the following improvements... A) audio feedback for manipulation of notes on the piano roll, B) ir merges new notes into existing clips instead of creating new clips, and C) it has a cleaner layout because the grid lines are now white (the R4 sequencer has black gridlines that makes it look more cluttered). Anyone who feels that's a downtrade from the R4 sequencer is complaining just for the heck of it.I mean, there's still alot of people saying the old sequencer was better.. not that I can understand that.

See, this is one problem I have with Record. As somebody who loves using Reason I want these upgrades, ... but I don't like several aspects of Record. Oh, THAT one... the sequencer in 1.0-3.0. Well, I don't even know what to say about that... it was kind of the MIDI sequencer equivalent of Notepad.exe. It was just something they put there to enable Reason to play demo songs... you couldn't name clips and the clip colors were randomized and couldn't be selected freely, and oddly you could also put notes outside of clips (or "groups" as they were called then). Nah, the R4 sequencer is much better. My only gripe with it is the way it creates a new clip for every overdub, but that's been fixed in Record, so...kae wrote:I was thinking about when Reason was upgraded from 3 to 4. I'm not 100% convinced though. Still mulling it over.

There's a lot to be said for that approach. At one time I was downloading every freebie I could get my hands on. It seemed like a good idea at the time but all that happened was that I just filled my HD with endless plugs very few of which I actually used. Apart from ImpOSCar 2 & a few choice FX plugs I seem to have lost interest in plugs. Maybe buying more hardware & also being a Reason user has something to do with it but a lot of the reason is to avoid the glut of plugs that are out there. I'm toying with the idea of a basic VST host, for the few that I do use, that I can record into Record.
