Hello,

I started on Atari ST with Studio 24 and then Cubase 1...
When I came to the PC world, I first used Cakewalk 2.
Then Orion came and I spent some years with it.
And then Tracktion...
And now Mulab.

I also have Reason 3, but don't really know how to use it, because Rewire is not as flexible as VSTs.

Mulab as to be improved in the composition side, I hope it will evolve nicely in this area.

Tracktion is certainly the best DAW I have used but now it seems it's dead and have some bugs that make me feel I can't rely on it...

I will repost the introduction to my own thread:

"A little background first:

I am a vocalist and have become pretty good at using Audacity to get high quality vocal recordings from just that program alone and my USB microphone (if you would like to hear a few, that URL is at the end of this post).

I am also pretty computer literate for an older guy. I have even operated a free form online radio music/interview station since 2003 and, to name drop a little, have done extensive music interviews with such folks as Chris Squire, Alan White, and Tony Kaye of Yes, Carl Palmer of ELP/Asia, and both Sam Bush and John Cowan x-New Grass Revival (the link to my station is also at the end of this post for those interested).

Now for the newbie part: I am almost totally clueless about sequencers and MIDI in general.

Spent most of my career in IT, building and supporting file servers (UNIX/Novell/Windows) working mainly as a contractor. Music has always been a hobby but I would like it to be more one day.

I have always used Cubase from the early years and ended with Cubase SX2. I have always disliked printer port/USB software protection and wanted to find a fast to use DAW with simple serial number unlocking.

I found MU.LAB about six months ago and it is now my main DAW. I have been sending my comments to Jo via Email during this time.

Jo already knows who I am so this is for the forum users. I have decided to join the forum in readiness for the beta testing of M3 so that my comments can be seen easily and quickly by Jo and I can also join in with others and their comments.

This is the reason I never got Cubase: The Dongle!
But then one day Rob Papen moved to eLicenser for BLUE and I had to do it, but that's "The exception the confirms the rule".:uhuhuh:

I am slowly moving everything to MuLab. The challenge is to reproduce the Built In effects in the other DAWs. I learned that lessons. Only third party. :dog:
