kv331 wrote:Hi folks,

We have a new release

This new version 1.9.9.13 has the following updates:

1. FIXED: Filter spectrum view missing response for Comb filters.
2. FIXED: Pan L/R interchanged
3. FIXED: When a plugin window is opened after the project is loaded, the preset name is not displayed.
Hello Bulent,

seems that the link for 1.9.9.13 still leads to the download for 1.9.9.12. The dll file shows 1.9.9.12 and the new features are missing. I tried downloading 3 times so i don't think i made a failure.

Checked the new update now:

1. Filter spectrum for comb filter works now.
2. Pan also work
3. I first thought the names still don't work. I opened an old project and the name was blank. I made a new project and now the names are loaded correctly. Means i have to change the old test projects, nothing serious.

UPDATE: Opened an old project, selected the patches again from the browser and saved the project. On reopening the project and the Synthmaster GUI all names are correct.

Currently all patches are also displayed in Ableton Live's own browser. This still shows the default patch. My proposal is either to remove the DAWs browser support or to display the right patch name also in the DAWs browser.

Today I'll start collecting statistics on the demo downloads, I hope the numbers are increasing :)

I tried the demo didn't read the manual and came to the following, often well-known conclusions:
-As kv331 said, the GUI isn't good, it executes my inspiration; find someone like Scott Kane to do it. I'm sure he'd come up with a solid skin
-It needs 'basic' presets like simple pads and stuff, when it'll have them, designers can make whatever experimental stuff they want to.
-I missed the Unison Detune knob
-I couldn't manage to use the second layer, or use effects
-The knob handling is disastrous, linear-vertical should be an option
-Also, typing values should improve workflow (if it already has, sorry I didn't read the manual)

After some fiddling, I made it to bust my pc. In standalone mode I selected "new simple patch" then "new normal patch" then it failed to response, I closed it, then I couldn't restart standalone cause it addressed wrong memory. I tried ableton but it didn't work either as it didn't want to open and I couldn't close it. I couldn't restart my pc with advanced process tree killing methods, so I had to reboot it manually.

Overall, this synth has potential to kick Largo and other wavetable synths out there in some time. It just needs some workflow and gui enhancing. Also, Waldorf wavetables and presets wouldn't hurt :P

I think getting a nice skin now is of utmost importance since 99% of the bugs seems ironed out. Way to go Bulent. Will be a great ride this.

Right now, TSVDesign is working on our default skin, and we also have our own gfx artist Umut Dervis (who did the skin for v1.0) on board. Hopefuly by the end of the month, we'd have a better GUI

Right now, we have 6 sounddesigners:
Scot Solida
LeLotusBleu
Brian Xenos Lee
Cyforce
Teoman Pasinlioglu
and me of course, I'll prepare 100 tutorial presets. If I had time I'd have done the tutorials first and hand over the job to the designers, but couldnt do that. At least we have a user manual (22 pages), if you read it, it gives you some hints!
rectus_dominus wrote: -I missed the Unison Detune knob
Velocity error/sensitivity, and modulation of parameters with MIDI Velocity is the solution here, as we wrote in the user manual. It's a superior approach then simply putting separate "spread" controls, because using the velocity you can spread any parameter
rectus_dominus wrote: -I couldn't manage to use the second layer, or use effects
That's odd? Did you turn on the Mono mode for Layer 1? We have a known problem with that, and will fix pretty soon.
rectus_dominus wrote: -The knob handling is disastrous, linear-vertical should be an option
You can turn the knobs in that way as well. Should have written this in the manual: Click on the center area of the knob, and it operates in linear/vertical mode.
rectus_dominus wrote: -Also, typing values should improve workflow (if it already has, sorry I didn't read the manual)
I'm afraid that's hard for me to implement typing parameter values right now. Maybe in a future release.

Will take a look at this.

Thanks for your comments! We appreciate them a lot!

I'm curious why the ".fxp/fxb" preset method was dropped???

:?

I'll take a look at this next week. Basicly our preset extension is smpr/smpp
And we put our presets in specific folders.

How should the flow be for fxp's?

I don't know if it's the problem here, but the way knobs are handled can be a matter of the host you're using. At least in Cubase you can choose between "circular" and "linear" in your personal preferences.

Yeah, but we're using our own knob controls, so we disregard that option.
Anyhow, both ways are possible with the knobs in SynthMaster.

Yeah, yeah
So basically I just miss the content from it (presets, wavetables)
Also, effects dont seem to work in 2x or 3x Engine Quality mode
Reverb amount knob is messy when dragging in linear mode
And in this moment I've suddenly crashed my Live when changing wave in one of the pad presets (I think it's the preset what has "wave" in it)
I toyed with WT to Sine change

Also, when selecting wave sequence start in waveform editor crashes live again
Sorry, but judging from this "release candidate" demo, this synth is far from complete... Btw is there any way to import complete wavetables or single cycle wavs?
