If what you're seeing in the list doesn't look right or you can't find a suitable output option which works, then the next stop is the Settings tab (at the very top) where you can set up and configure all your ins and outs if you haven't done so already.

(The output meters show activity not actual audio output)

Hope this helps
Is it possible to set tracktion to default to the default midi output for a track with midi without any filters(audio filters) and the default audio output for tracks with audio and/or a synth

Its kind of annoying every time I import midi to change the imported tracks all to MIDI
I help when I can, but more often its me who needs it! :help:

No, 'fraid not, and yes it is. ;)

Is there a problem with ST2 and Tracktion? Loading sounds freezes my Carillon. I actually have to do a hard reboot.

Is there a setup configuration I need to know about for multitimbral softsynths?

Thanks,
Gordon

I'm taking a guess here, but try going to the settings page and uncheck the optuion 'use realtime priority mode'.

Gordon,
No problem with ST2 (engine-only) and Tracktion here for me. There aren't specific issue for multitimbral synths in general that I know of either. I've always just set midi clips to an appropriate channel for the synth (usually putting those clips on separate tracks) and directing the output of those tracks to a track containing the multitimbral synth).

Hope you get it resolved :)

OK It ain't causing trouble no more. Getting ahead. I actually made some decent sounds with Tracktion last night. That was fast.

I have a little question, if i record a short MIDI track and I want to loop it correctly, is there an elegant way to do this in Tracktion, without the use of 3rd party programs or doing it all manually? You hopefully know what i mean, thanks :)

Post

I know what you mean, and unfortunately the answer is 'no' for now. I'm sure it's all part of the MIDI overhaul, which will be the thing we nag Jules about once we're done nagging him about Rack Filters. ;-)

Cheers

I know it's pretty basic, but maybe others have the same question.

How do I end up with a stereo master track of my work in Tracktion? Or how do I mix down my tracks into a stereo track for export to another program for mastering, say for example Cool Edit Pro?

Post

click 'export' (bottom left) and choose 'create audio file'.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I actually don't follow this - how do I set a clip to an appropriate channel and where would say ST2 or DeltaIII go? I cannot get DeltaIII or ST2 to respond to Midi clips. I place these VSTis into their respective tracks set the out to default audio but nothing. I am again missing something simple.

Thanks,
Gordon

Put a patch bay filter behind Delta III and route the channels accordingly...probably the same for ST2.
