Has anybody bought it?

I'm interested in the trance presets. They sound great from the demo song. It seems like he decided to make a versatile bank and not focusing totally on electronica/trance stuff.

After looking through his other stuff, I was hoping that this new bank would be pure trance related. I think Zebra needs more of those. Pure emotional powerful trance leads, basses, arps, plucks and what not.

Share with us your review if you do buy them.

Diversity is the reason for not targeting one genre of music, in a patch bank.
Not everyone likes trance sounds, so designers who put more variety of sounds in their banks, are doing so, to appeal to a more diverse customer base. If someone can only do trance sounds, and nothing else, I wouldn't consider even buying a bank that only has one type of sound.

As for trance banks, there's the Adam Van Baker commercial set. I've not bought it, but heard it has a lot of trance presets.
A great bank for trance, in my opinion, is the psycox free bank here.

Also the Zircon Dance Electronic commercial, I've only heard that it has a lot of trance type sounds.
So try one of these, if that's what your into.

I just listened to those demos. The Alonso set sounds rather good to me!

Mc,

I removed 'sadly' from my post, because it is a great bank from what I can hear. :) I love the demos and the sounds no doubt. They are nice. However, I was just hoping for pure electronica presets, given the content of his other banks/synths. Never the less, Thanks for the recommendations!

So, would you buy Zebra for, say, $150 rather than the $200 full asking price? You know you might be able to swing yourself a deal there if you ask nicely

There definitely are some great-sounding patches in the demos. Further demonstrates what a great and varied-sounding instrument Zebra is in its current version, even without the new filter modes coming in 2.5. I'm buried in Bazille and Synth Squad atm, but this set is on my list of things to check out as soon as I get a handle on the new tools.

These sounds do indeed seem very cool. Every designer has their own unique style, which is what makes preset collections so interesting :)
