Receptor + Komplete offer

One of my friend bought a Receptor + Komplete offer in France.

The French distibutor told him that he cant install Komplete on his PC or MAc (he owns both) and that the Komplete pack should only be (remain) intalled on the Receptor.

Can anyone with experience confirm this ? (or not ...)

Btw we could not succeed in installin my bank for NI Massive into the Receptor. Is there a comprehensive tutorial somewhere wich shows how to perform this task ? (Receptor just never succeed to "install" the patches from its special install folder) so that we had to make Massive points to this folder to play the patches.

Thanks for reading and for any info :)

Hi Lotuzia,

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that Massive patches/banks are not .fxp/.fxb files. Receptor does know how to manage .fxp/.fxb files, and turn these into receptorized patches. For other file types specific to a plugin (as is probably the case with Massive), you need to 'load' those files into the plugin, and manually save each Massive patch as a 'receptorized patch'.

Hope this helps,
Kevin L

Hi Kevin,

Right guess :) NI use a proprietary format for their preset files. So this makes the installation of big libraries quite tedious imho ( Our MAssive set is only 150 files atm, but I cant imagine someone installing a big Sample library for Kontakt (NKIs files) this way without going nuts ..... :-o  )

Thanks for the info anyway truly appreciated :) Thats how we installed some of the patches.

Else, does anybody have ideas/knowledge about the Receptor/Komplete bundle deal to share ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Again,

I just checked my installation of Massive (frome Komplete 5 on Receptor). I noticed that I had 4 banks of Receptorized patches (factory1 - factory4). Did these not appear for you in your installation?

Give the receptor support team a quick note if you don't have these - they should be able to help. In the worse case, I could probably email you the receptorized banks/patches I have, and you could install these.

Hope this helps,
Kevin L

PS. I understand your pain regarding 'receptorizing' factory patches. I did this for all of (Spectrasonics) Atmosphere and USB UltraFocus, for which there were Hundreds of patches!

Hi again,

Come to think of it, my Kontakt installation for Komplete 5 also had receptorized patches for the patches in the Kontakt Library. Again, same recommendation as above.

Kevin L

Hi Kelvin,

First many thanks for your help.

Well my friend bought a Receptor + Komplete bundle offer ( There's even a serigraphy of Komplete on the front panel of Receptor).

And in fact the problem we had was first to install my own 3rd party bank of patches for Massive on his Receptor. Wich we had to do manually, like you suggested. Wich btw is indeed a BIG loss of time imho. We could also point Massive database to the special install directory of Receptor, but it might not be good to let the patches there, cos each time he'll try to install "something", Receptor will try to install these patches :?

Then the mystery remains if he's allowed to install Komplete on his PC or Mac or not ( Afaik Komplete allows for three simultaneous install on three different machines -at least my Komplete does this- ) BUT the French distributor for Receptor told him it was forbidden, in wich I suspect he could has been himself misinformed ( though its obviously his job )

Then he had numerous other - more or less tedious- problems with his Receptor that the French distributor refused to fix ( like a badly fixed front panel making a big Hummm noise, knobs not rotating in a proper way aso). As my friend is a bit lost in all these process, I try to help him like I can.

So I thought that these were the official support forums of Receptor for example, but if there another site, could you please indicate it to me ?

Thanks again for your help. Truly appreciated :)

Hi Lotuzia,

Just to clarify, while this is a Receptor forum, this is not really an official support channel for Muse research. You will get people with alot of Receptor experience here to give advice, but direct support comes from the Muse phone lines. I live in the same area where Muse Research is, and I know their support staff - who are very patient and helpful. However, they rarely get cycles to monitor this forum, so I'd recommend trying to get their advice directly.

Regarding the Komplete installs (for buying the Receptor Komplete version), yes this was my understanding too - that you had 2 additional installs that you were free to use on PCs/Macs. I would suggest to verify with the support team at Muse (US) as well.

Regarding the original problem of installing your own banks onto Receptor, sadly I think you have covered all of the options.

Hope this has been helpful. Regards,
Kevin L

Also, support can be accessed via Muse's Plugorama web site. There's a link at the top of this forum page.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the answer Kelvin and Batgab.

Very appreciated. I'll report that to my friend.

I recently bought a Receptor 2 Pro with Komplete installed. It comes with the Komplete disks/serial numbers, and I also installed and authorised it on my laptop. You can install Komplete on 3 computers

Exactly - even if you didn't have it installed already, the Receptor simply counts as one of those three computers according to Muse support.
