last question for today. :wink:

seems like i've found a tool that might help me achieve a beatmaking workflow similar to using a drum sequencer in mulab. it's called MoCon DrumSeq, from dunk of smartelectronix.

so it goes like this... you connect it to a drum instrument, build a pattern inside it (add some swing to taste... :D), push play in mulab, drumseq starts sending midi data out, thus making the drum instrument playaccording to the desired pattern. now, this is very nice, but what i'm really looking for here would be transcribing the midi data that this plugin is sending to a sequence in mulab. this would be super-extra-awesome if possible.

so, can i somehow record the midi out data of a plugin?

Don't connect it to a drum instrument, connect it to a MIDI Out that's a MIDI Yoke OUT port. Then set your MIDI Input to record, with a MIDI Yoke IN port of the same number open. Have that MIDI Input connected to your drum instrument. Hit record... should work... :)

(Assuming you're on a PC, not a Mac. On a Mac, do something fancy with some appropriate virtual MIDI cabling...)

Not yet. But it's on the whishlist. The same for audio.

@pljones
oh, you are brilliant! thanks for the awesome tip. i set the thing up and it works like a charm. the only problem is that there's a bit of latency going on in the process so the events get recorded a tiny bit late, but then i just select all the events, cut them all together and then paste right on the line.
ahh, i can finaly have a drum machine inside mulab! thanks again!

@mutools
nice, looking forward to that improvement. will make things like this much easier.

Ooh, there shouldn't be any delay going on. That sounds odd. Uh, how tiny are you talking about..?
