Anyway I'm curious as to what are your favorite commercial banks. Thanks!
Favorite commercial Zebra2 bank?

I'm thinking of treating myself to a commercial bank for Zebra2. Unfortunately I can't really say what style I'm aiming for, because my interests are so eclectic. I often find inspiration just from preset surfing and noodling. I have an interest in most styles of electronic music. That narrows it down eh?

eventually get them all, not kidding. from the demos and what I own they sound unique and usable in their own ways.
although in general I would stick to newer banks since they may use new features of the VSTi unavailable in older banks. not sure if this applies to zebra though.

I almost felt I couldn't vote because I have Transmission, Zebra Science and the Oldskool and Afterskool series and they all have good stuff and with the presets themselves I can't pick between them. But I gave Transmission my vote because as well as providing oscillator and MSEG presets along with the set it also has a whole set of template patches for getting you started in creating your own sounds in various categories. This is a very nice touch. However, there is a downside to the Transmission set in that some sounds are buggy due to a Zebra fix, and updates to the affected sounds haven't been published (though the instructions for fixing them have, which I never got around to doing).
Sorry to say, but I have no intention of getting them all. I find it too distracting to have that much choice, and it's hard enough remembering and finding the right sound anyway. In any case, I'd like to learn to craft my own sounds a bit more.

Are many sounds affected? In what way and what is the fix? (I thought Zebra updates were compatible with earlier versions?)blurk wrote: However, there is a downside to the Transmission set in that some sounds are buggy due to a Zebra fix, and updates to the affected sounds haven't been published (though the instructions for fixing them have, which I never got around to doing).

Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. I think only a few sounds are affected, because I rarely run into problems when randomly strolling through the set. But basically, I think the volume goes off the scale and I have to re-initialise the plugin instance, because even changing back to a working preset Z2 stays silent after the bad patch. Since I was never organised enough to apply the fix, I don't recall it but I think it involved a simple tweak to a single parameter in each affected patch. Searching through the forum should reveal the details; the topic has come up a couple of times. One day I'll be organised enough to systematically search and replace and be done with it. Unfortunately, tonight's not the night.aMUSEd wrote:Are many sounds affected? In what way and what is the fix? (I thought Zebra updates were compatible with earlier versions?)

They've been fixed by Beej and there is an official updated pack.blurk wrote:However, there is a downside to the Transmission set in that some sounds are buggy due to a Zebra fix, and updates to the affected sounds haven't been published (though the instructions for fixing them have, which I never got around to doing).
You should send an email to urs at u-he dot com with your share-it invoice number for the Transmission pack. There is indeed an updated version of these presets with the problem ones fixed.
(or maybe Urs will see this post...

Thanks for letting us know - i hadn't realised. Especially as it is one of my top 3 favourites. (As well as Science and Oldskool)

Yep,bmrzycki wrote:(or maybe Urs will see this post...)
There's a fix for the 3 (?) presets that sound different / may blow up due to the faster LFOs introduced with Zebra 2.1 - I'm happy to provide that on request.
Unfortunately I could never reach beej, he seems to have moved on towards other realms. I would have officially released it if there had also been an update reflecting the new module types for the Transmission Skin.
Cheers,

Well, Oldskool is not only the most expensive, it's also the most comprehensive and versatile bank.pedx1ng wrote:Thanks for the votes all. Hrm, figures the most expensive one would be leading the way. hehe Perhaps next pay period then.
