The only way I can to raise the volume (inline) is to use an XMF.
Are there any other tricks?
If not, maye boost mode could be added to either the mixers or the shapers?

If mono is OK and you can spare one or two mixers, put them in there (Pan Mono mode)

SB-1 and SB-2 will add some gain (not much) by turning the mix knob up and left at default does not color the sound much at all (I cannot tell if it does)
You can use a compressor in the effects section... also an EQ if you fuss with it to get it flat
