I'm 39. But it wasn't after I quit smoking two years ago that hang overs became, uhm, mostly harmless (in fact, for three months I could drink as much as I wanted without getting *any* hang over). Headaches are quite rare nowadays, maybe once a year (usually after my wife's birthday party). Well, and my wife looks after me. We mostly get stuff from the health food store (pronounce: "hellfoodstore", the th in health is silent). Next week we do an apple juice diet. This is to break down some potential stones in our gold bladder. Sheesh, I didn't think I'd turn into an organic eater. At least I kept the carnivore aspect. No packet pizza anymore though. And rarely any red wine (triggers rosacea). But plenty of beer, Spritz con l'Aperol e Prosecco (discovered that in Italy, right when my Maestro card was stolen) and nice non-acidic white wines. That's the good thing about becoming a grown up. One doesn't need to spend so much money on household goods (we have everything, including a pizza knife for the packet pizzas we don't buy anymore - and despite being married, we still have some empty drawers, hence no need to buy new shelves anytime soon), so there's more room to invest in food quality. And also hair shampoo has become more expensive than it used to be back in the student days.jensa wrote:How old are you Urs? Hangovers after 35 kills you. Then you have one more year before it all goes to hell, and eleven more before the denial deadline is up.Urs wrote:I'm 39.jensa wrote:How old are you Urs? Hangovers after 35 kills you. Or at least me.Urs wrote:The hang over itself wasn't so bad though

Strange! You're right... no idea why that is.hakey wrote:Looking at one of Howard's bass patches in Zebra Science, HS Mister Crusher, EQing is used in a way that seems counter-intuitive - there's a subtle boost at 3K and a roll of all freqs below 1.75K (there is a small peak at 150hz, though this is still below 0 amplitude, and a slight attenuation above 5.5K) - I would have thought that less low frequencies and more mids to high mids would result in a more 'midy' sound, but, comparing the patch with and without, the EQed version sounds somehow more bassey?
BTW: I have a very recent beta, and Mister Crusher sounds wrong (very gritty) - seems to be the Drive parameter in VCF2 (which is set to LP Vintage). Remedy: turn down the Drive.

Ah... but the secret of life is tweaking - tweak and see what comes out. I often don't understand my own patches AFTER doing them, but each little step made sense at the time.hakey wrote:Oh, and I thought you knew what you're doing!Howard wrote:Strange! You're right... no idea why that is.

Well, I'm doing it about half right then - I lose track of what's going on in my patches most of the time, but I can't truthfully say that each step along the way makes senseHoward wrote:I often don't understand my own patches AFTER doing them, but each little step made sense at the time.

Hi there,
I'm still having trouble getting everything done in time... I'd rather like to start the patch design website with contests and stuff in October then... would anyone mind having teh September contest here, too?
Cheers,
Urs

Actually... that is the topic I wanted to start the patch contests on the patch bending site with... a bit more specific, but certainly a really nice fun themehakey wrote:Lolcatsxh3rv wrote:

Mr Bit has offered a copy of his soundset for the next contest
Mr Bit's Z - Drums
And he suggested that perhaps the contest should be something along the lines of a single patch beatbox or percussive rhythm patch. I think it's a great prize and a fitting contest theme. What does everyone else think?

A quick reminder - the deadline for the current contest is this Monday (midnight GMT). I'm presuming that bmrzycki's happy to do the honours and collect the submissions again
- if not you can always PM a link to me.
EDIT: I should have written Sunday (as per the instructions at the top of this thread) there not Monday!
