There is another message that I feel is a bit pointless in M2. I do not know if this has been raised before so here goes.
After I have saved a file and named it. I will then work with the file and every so often I will save my work using CTRL + S. This is the same kind of thing I do when working with MS Word etc and has become a habit of mine over the years.
In MS Windows applications CTRL + S will save the file to the already named file with no "Overwrite" message.
MU.LAB always gives me an "Overwrite existing <filename> YES NO".
I personally feel that this overwrite message is pointless and it also interrupts my workflow and becomes rather annoying.
What do you think Jo?

Agreed.
Save: silent.
Save As/Save Copy As: prompts to overwrite if an existing file is chosen.
Be nice to have optional backups... but that's way down my "nice to have" list...

Uh, I didn't write that out in full. I'd like to have an optional number of backups - "1" being the default but allowing the user to specify more. So when I do hit save, a new backup is made up to this limit and then the oldest gets dropped (ideally renaming them all so the newest is "foo.MuSession.0" and they're numbered sequentially older). (For the more paranoid amongst us...) Like I say, not high up my "nice to have" list. (If I can do this already, it shows just how low down my list it really is!!)

Note that MU.LAB does make a backup of an existing .MuSession file before overwriting it.
But that's about 1 backup. Not multiple ones.
If you want more backups, why not backup them?
Or just save as "FooSong1.MuSession", "FooSong2.MuSession", etc...
Or "FooSong20090825.MuSession", "FooSong20090827.MuSession", etc...

Coz that takes _thinking time_ 
. The idea is I can just hit Ctrl-S and not think about it. 
Of course, when I go "Oh no! I need to go back a few edits", it's going to be n+1 that I need... for any value of n...

Deleting track and rack messages.
When deleting a rack you get a message that says:
"Sure to delete <Rack A>?"
When deleting a track you get a message that says:
"Are you sure to delete this track?"
The wording should be similar for both and it is also good to see the <name> of the track or rack that might be deleted.
Deleting a rack does give the <name> but the track delete does not and they probably both need to say "Are you sure…".
This is not a big problem just an observation.
PS I have also looked at "other" DAWS and they do not give a message at all they just delete the tracks/racks that is/are selected. The UNDO is then used if the user has made an error deleting the wrong track/rack.

It is called "Incremental Save"
Every time you save the open file it just add a sequential number to the file's name but it is not done by the usual Save command otherwise you get into a circle and you can't get out.
The command could be "Save Incremental" or something on those lines so you have still a choice to Save as usual or Incrementally.

Hmmm, I thought this thread was related to something else, but perhaps not, beacause I read that this was imlemented in the latest release - ok, I'm working on a project and at the end of the session I do a final File - Save. Then I go to close Mulab and it asks me again if I want to 'quit without save' or 'save before quit'. Shouldn't this prompt pop up only if there are changes that haven't been saved?

[bfloyd6969] - Threads do tend to jump about a bit.
What has been changed was to make CTRL + S silent.
You still will get the "Are you sure ..." stuff when quitting MU.LAB. Probably worth reading the whole thread again to see Jo's explanation.
