Hey jas,
What are the plans for Onyx? Any more details? I have 1220firewire and would deffo go for Mackie when I need more channels, within the next 5 years probably.
Tracktion seemed cool, but my daw and tracking needs are covered by Acid and Orion.

I really don't know a lot about Mackie's plans for Onyx with Protools, but they've baited our hooks with the following (leaked) info:

Personally, I already record in a PTLE8 Micro system on multiple tracks by just using Reaper through an Onyx 1620 with firewire digital i/o, and then rendering to wav files. This works fine, but it could be more coherent and all-in-one-box.
Should this come to pass, one would hope that this is not just a way for Mackie to sell new hardware, and the drivers will be possible to update on legacy (backwards compatible) systems.
Anyway, speculation is for product release of the Onyx 800i for October.

In a hopefully more enlightening post, I feel that Mackie owes it's user base a more direct approach to marketing, especially Tracktion users whom all been left out in the dark for a very long time. I want Mackie to recover economically, but it will require a far more direct approach to recuperate customer confidence. I much prefer the economic policy of the King of Nepal, Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jigme_Khes ... _Wangchuck - who embraces a policy of GNH - Gross National Happiness. Of course, he has a product India must have - hydroelectric power. I hope Greg Mackie finds something similarly wonderful up his sleeve.

I would like to see Tracktion retain its overall look and feel, not adding much but increasing quality of use for Mac users, including the use of AU plugins.

To serve the different user base, create two products, one for loop based music and one for traditional (left to right plus editing) users.

Tracktion has an ease of use, particularly around the use of the cursor keys for Transport that I miss in Logic, also it looks great on a small screen, (Macbook), I like the use of colour and the adjustable Solo function.

I like to find my own workarounds, T is superb, Keep it simple...

Even though I have switched to Logic over these last couple of years, I'd take another stab at Tracktion if it was stable on the Mac platform and had decent CPU. And yes we do need AU support. But this is good news.....
