Actually only 3 Gig is available to you on these units. It's an OS limit. They aren't truthful about that.

The only time you'll be able to use more than three is when the OS goes to 64 bit.

Technically, 32-bit linux kernels can be recompiled to handle up to 64GB RAM. Not saying this has been done (considering we're running 32-bit apps on it anyway so it wouldn't matter much) but just FYI.

That's interesting. When I complained about the 3 gigs sitting on my machine they gave me the information about needing 64 bit Linux.

The main thing is that my Receptor 2 Pro Max only sees 3 gigs of RAM even though they say 4 is installed. The fact that they don't say that in their literature is misleading at best.

Avlinux is 32bit and supports 64Gb of Ram (Read about PAE - Physical Address Extension).

A lot of interesting tech talk but you are totally missing the point. The Receptor Pro Max ships with 4 Gigs of RAM of which only 3 are available.

Explain that.

Better yet - maybe Muse would like to go on record with that one.

I am sorry but i can't explain why they don't add PAE in Receptor.
I was just pointing out that it is possible to use 64Gb of ram in 32bit with PAE enabled.

The Reason for adding 4Gb of Ram instead of 3Gb might be because it is cheaper or that the Receptor Motherboard only supports 2 Ram bricks.

It's getting harder to feel confident in the choices one makes in these very expensive products.

Hi Folks.

Need to reply to this thread. The RECEPTOR 2 line ships with 4GB of physical memory. Of that 4GB of memory, 3GB is reserved as program space for use by plug-in and samples. The other 1GB of memory is reserved for use by low-level system resources, and as such is not reported as usable memory by the OS.

Since Receptor uses more than 3GB we decided to install 4GB, but report only the memory that is available to the user's plug-ins. Obviously, this has created some confusion so we have decided it is better to report the entire memory space so as to accurately indicate the amount of physical memory available.

We apologize if this has created confusion, but please be assured that there is 4GB of physical memory in the RECEPTOR 2 line of products. In fact the Intel motherboards that are in the R2 Pro and R2 Pro Max support up to 8GB of physical memory. Our plan is to support this in the future, but we have no release dates at this time.

We hope this clears things up and thank you so very much for using our products

Hello Mr.Halaby.Im a proud owner of your product (receptor ver 1.7.2gig ram 160 hd) and my only complain is about the ram space in your product.Since I got the unit I"been working live, and the sound the vst offer is no comparison to the synths available in the market. The only sad thing is that with 3 or 4 plugins in the mixer the unit start to be acting funny due the capacity of the ram.My complain is:The receptor indeed is not a cheap product,so why do not add more ram space so we owners of this marvelous thing will be more than happy triggering more than 3 or 4 plugins at the same time??I really would love to use the 16 spaces in the mixer with 16 plugins at the same time (in snapshot configuration) but sadly the machine do not support more than 4.(colossus,artvista virtual piano, garritan jazz and big band, first call horns are my mainly plugins) and its very frustating not been able to use it at all. Please put more ram one those units, and support us with more ram to the ones that have the unit already.Thanks.
