No it does not sound crazy, you're right. But, just have to do it because I dont want to release a product missing quality FX.

About the LoFi (S&H+BitCrusher):
Do we need pre/post filters for this one? I think it might be good to add those.

About the Distortion:
I'm gonna add a user drawable waveshaper curve so it will be VERY FLEXIBLE. Also, there will be pre filters (LP+HP), post EQ (Low/High Shelve filters) and bias (to simulate tubes?

Adding multi-band functionality to the distortion maybe?

The drawbar waveshaper sounds good, but it would also good to have a choice, drawbar waveshaper or typical distortion-effect with some mods, because nebies for example will have probs with a drawbar waveshaper...

also filter distortion, the drive at the filters works good, but filter drive is a very important point, so perhaps some more mods would be amazing, like blofeld for example. Soft, Hard, Tube, SineShaped etc

but then i think this all would be too much distortion possibilities in a synth.

For example there are a number of highly featured reaktor ensembles out there which lack the sound quality :S

I finally fixed the bug where both layers can not be set to operate on mono mode. I had to change the architecture for that to work, but the good news is it's fixed now

Another good news: We have more presets from Brian (Xenos) and Scot (Solida)

In the next relesae the preset count will be 167!

This week I'll concentrate on adding the new Layer FX: LoFi, Distortion, EQ, and if time permits Phaser.

LoFi will be a combination of Bit Reduction followed by sample and hold. There will be pre/post LP filters before/after the effect (4 pole)

For the distortion, as I wrote before, the waveshaper will be custom. Of course we'll provide presets for common shapes like : Full Wave Rectified, Half Wave Rectifier, Soft Clip, Hard Clip etc...

Folks,

We are glad to announce our new build #19.

In this build, we have the following updates:

1. FIX: Mono mode works correctly for separate layers now.

2. FIX: When vocoder is on, CPU spike occurs when notes are released.

3. FIX: When saving existing presets, the preset is saved to the root folder if it existed under a subfolder before.

4. UPDATE: Output Volume level is raised by +12 dB. Due to this change, preset volumes are adjusted. Also, presets are categorized under subfolders based on the preset Authors. Please DELETE your existing Presets folder before extracting the archive file to prevent duplicate presets on your system!

5. UPDATE: Total preset count for SynthMaster reached 167.
