Patch Contest #3 Voting

@ HiEnergy if you're reading this - I just want to say that I'm really surprised that only one of your patches scored and at that only a single point! That just doesn't seem like a fair reflection of how good the patches were - and they were pretty decent (though, as someone pointed out, fairly similar)! I'm sure that many who didn't put either patch in their top 3 would have had them somewhere just below, but outside the points

I'm glad and thankful I even made it into the contest as I "rediscovered" it about an hour before the gates closed...
With this little time left I just grabbed two patches from a backup of my studio computer. There was no time left for driving to the studio and do sound design, so I took what was there and decided to throw these two patches from my unreleased sound set into the race.
That's also the reason for the info text being German and not translated to English, I just had no computer with Zebra available and no time left.
Next time I just have to be better prepared.
"Dabei sein ist alles"
stay tuned

HiEnergy,
Thanks for voting my patch #1 of your choices! I actually wanted to do more with the 2.5beta modmatrix but I stopped at 4 to be compatible with 2.3. I yield to Michael Kastrup and Howard Scarr's brilliant use of modulations as my source of study and inspiration.
I really wanted to make a patch to show people getting started in Z2 doesn't require a ton of modules. 1-2 Z2 modules can accomplish what 7-10 Reason devices in a rack do. Of course, with that power comes a bit of a learning curve...Good thing it's so fun!

bmrzycki,
I'm really surprised about what you made possible with just *ONE* module.
I guess the compressor is just for taming and slightly shaping the result.
If I didn't see it on the routing plan, I'd never believe that there's no filter involved. It was not only the playability and versatility of the sound that impressed me but also the well planned design utilizing extremely few ressources to their fullest.

Well, that's my worst result so far. Quite justified, of course; I actually found this task surprisingly difficult in some ways. I tended to interpret "playability" as "open up the filters and crank things up", resulting in the shrillness observed by some. Also, for one of the patches I wanted to recreate from first principles something that I liked using the Transmission comb layer template (a nice, woody hollow sound) but ended up going off on a tangent with a sound that interested me but in retrospect wasn't really "playable" despite me trying to force it into a playable mould. (Funnily enough, that patch ended up being perfect in an improv session I was involved in last week.)
Concrats though to the well-deserved top place-getters. And I did pick those first two...

I have been thinking that maybe we should make it a rule in these contests that all patchnames should be punsxh3rv wrote:It's nice that these things are appreciated in the Uheniverse!hakey wrote:punning patchname

Why do I picture you laughing and slapping your knee as you explain the Pingcusson>Pin Cushion bit?hakey wrote:I have been thinking that maybe we should make it a rule in these contests that all patchnames should be punsxh3rv wrote:It's nice that these things are appreciated in the Uheniverse!hakey wrote:punning patchnamebut it would probably get tiresome fairly quickly! I thought my Pingcussion, from last time wasn't bad; Pingcussion > Pin Cushion
