I'm quite a new convert to Zebra, and to get the 2.5 update so soon after purchasing is absolutely insane! It sounds REALLY good...thanks Urs!

I'm also a big fan of the new look, although if a less contrasty Bazille inspired matte-look with different colours for the different modules was available I'd probably make that my default skin. (hint)

Z2.5 is very hard to fault.

The Dark Horse skin is under the "look" button. Did you try that one?
That's what I use.
Although I'm still on 2.3...I don't think that skin is complete for 2.5.

Exactly, using current Dark Horse you miss some extra features like extended modulation matrix...

And XMF routing + modes for secondary filter...

I think for a skin with color-coded modules, I'd almost prefer having a more understated way of color-coding things than having the entire modules be starkly different colors...just a little too gaudy and cartoonish for me. It might not be so bad having them be different colors if the modules had elegant background textures like the Uhbiks maybe, but I don't know that I really want to look at a GUI that looks like a patchwork quilt or a Fisher Price toy, LOL.

Freedom of choice please :)

Regarding the gui i really love how the eq pane looks.
I have a question too, is it possible to keep 2.3 alongside the 2.5?
Because one of my presets sounds different in the 2.3 mode than it did with the real 2.3

The "newer" b6 version does indeed validate in Logic 9....and the GUI appears to be displayed correctly. However, in Cubase 5 (Mac/Intel/10.5.8 ) the GUI (normal view) still remains cut off on the right side. It does this across three different Macs in my studio.

Thanks MC, i used Dark horse for 2.3. There's a lot to like about that skin. :)
I haven't had Zebra long enough to have made a bunch of 2.3 specific presets, so i'm jumping into 2.5 straight away, and as said by others here, Dark Horse is missing some of the 2.5 features. Not for long though, I'm sure.

I like the way the Dark Horse FM modules have that DX7/FM7ish FM icon on them. I'd prefer the TYPE of module to be indicated by graphic icons like that.
It would be cool to have global/individual options for knob colour...just in case you don't like green...and global/individual hue/saturation/texture options for module colour/texture too. (like Reaktor's panel colour options)
I'd like user-assignable colours for colour-coding the synth-structure. For instance, a comb filter's TUNE knob could be key to the variations in a certain patch, so make it red or orange to stand out at a glance. (you could argue that the XY performance pads make colour coding of modules or knobs unnecessary, but i'm all for options, cos not everyone works the same way). I'd probably use colour coding to help me remember which parameters are assigned to which knobs on my midi controller.

And MC, I'm a big fan of your patches! Incredibly generous that you give those away for free! They're definitely in the same league as the commercial stuff. (will have to switch back to 2.3 mode and Dark Horse for those! )

Hi Urs

It looks like the arpmod modulator in Zebra 2.5 (2.3 mode) is miswired: modulations from the arpmod grid don't do anything, while modulations from the arpmod2 grid actually turn up at destinations that have 'arpmod [1]' selected.

Chris

PS I just bought the UHBIK FX, and I think they're fantastic.

Maybe I'm remembering things incorrectly but I seem to recall grymmjack mentioning he might be skinning Z2. I can still hope I suppose. :)

I mostly like the DarkHorse skin, because of the guide lines in the XY pads.
I can remember where certain spots sounded cool when moved to that location.

I want to try the 2.5 upgrade this week, but I fear the worst, being on such an old computer. I finally got the okay from my wife to buy a new one, though still have to wait a couple of months to get it.

Glad you like them.
I'll be converting those to v2.5, along with older ZebraCM presets I did, and adding many new variation presets, then putting them all into 1 zip.
So you won't need to switch to 2.3 mode with those soon.

Its not obvious to me how to reset the preset patch, other than the default on the C drive.

Did the DVD arrive, btw? I did send it... really...
