So once we reach 400 presets it will be time to create demo songs for SynthMaster 2.0

What do you guys think of my idea of a "SynthMaster 2.0 Song Contest"? Would it be enticing for folks if we had prizes for the top 3 winners?

Here are the release notes for this build:

1. UPDATE: SynthMaster now contains 238 presets!

2. FIX: SynthMaster startup time improved significantly

3. FIX: Easy parameter modulations not working.

4. NEW: Added Distortion effect for each layer

5. NEW: Added LoFi effect for each layer

6. NEW: Added 4 band parametric EQ for each layer

7. NEW: Added new parameters for Unison: Pan Spread, Detune Spread

3 Bugs found:

1. Global FX -> Vocoder EnvDecay Knob are 2 Knobs overlayerd(gui bug)
2. Unisio use with additiv oscs make many crackles
3. If i use wavetable-osc and load a wave comes error screen and than bluescreen and laptop make a reboot

OK, after this release here are the remaining issues I'd like to address:

1. Improving the reverb, and make it more "standard" as suggetsted by Laurent.

2. Improving the Multistage envelope editor as suggested by Laurent.

3. Add pitch/cutoff/volume keytracking parameters for each oscillator/modulator/filter, that's still missing.

4. Introduce more "Basic" waveforms to be used in Basic/Additive oscillators, so for instance we can have a Moog "Square", Digital "Square" etc...

5. Introduce a Phaser FX. Might add Phaser/Chorus to Layer FX as well, still undecided on that.

6. Rewrite the waveform editor, adding more wave morphing features.

When I'm done with the above, we're DONE!

Of course in the mean time, our sound designers will be busy finishing up the features. The above I will add will not break any existing presets, no worries on that. Hopefuly by the end of the October all of the above will be completed as well as the User Manual & then we're ready for the official release.

I'll fix all the above tonight. Apparently I didnt test the "improving initial load time" issue well enought. The wavetable osc bug has to do with that.

Some bugs:
1) In energyXT1, if I want to "Show Params" of SynthMaster I get an "Access Violation"
2) When loading SynthMaster in Tobybear's MiniHost I get either a "Divide by Zero" error or only a partial GUI shown.
3) When selecting a preset in SynthMaster then the host does not get updated, i.e. the Host is showing the wrong preset name.

to 2. : confirmed, examples: the patches "PAD brassy IV SM" and "PAD coldsmoother III SM" sound clipped and distorted. without unison they sound normal. Other patches seem to have the same problem. Tried this in standalone mode, haven't checked in the VST.

to 3. : could not reproduce this so far.


BTW the new presets sound excellent.

I'm just missing some more nice wavetable scanning/wavesequencing patches (especially evolving pads) like in the PPG/Waldorf synths which use more then just 2 waveforms. In my own patches i have some pads which use up to 16 different waveforms.

UPDATE: OK, like expected I found some wavetable patches from Scot Solida. He's a PPG "guru" so he should know how to program wavetable sounds...

I found that reducing the volume helps.
