Is it me or does BFD2 suck

Seriously:

I bought BFD2 for the receptor thinking I might be able to replace some of my SD2 stuff with it. Compared to Toontrack's SD2, BFD sounds like a cheap toy.

Total waste of money.

Will you guys work out something with Toontrack to get SD2 working on this thing?

I'd gladly pay for the update.

Carl

PS - The interface is sluggish and crashes the receptor as well.

Carl,

I am not a big fan of BFD2 but I will say that it takes alot of mixing skills to get a drum track sounding good. Since the samples are very neutral, the entire sound is up to you. The built-in FX and processors of BFD2 suck as well, as does the room and OH mic sounds. But, if you want total control of the drum track, BFD2 does allow you to work in your sound.

The BFD2 guys swear by it and if my drum mixing chops were up to PAR, I might like BFD2 more but it has taken me about a year to get anything close to a drum track that sounds the way I want it to and it required the use of ALTIVERB (live drum room IR) and UAD2 plugins (EQs and COMPs).

I bought BFD when it first came out where I caught John Emrich playing his ZenDrum at NAMM. It really sounded spectacular! However, I have always had problems with it crashing and being sluggish on my Receptor 1 Pro Max. Also, the sound quality was not audiophile level at all. I told someone at Muse about it a while ago and they said that I should try Addictive Drums. I tried AD about 12 months ago and I have been addicted ever since. The inside trick with AD is to buy the MIDI files from Groove Monkee to extend AD's usefulness.

I still use my Ross Garfield "The Drum Doctor does Drums" Akai sample Library from years back. Based on my bad experience with BFD, I have given up trying all the new Drum Plugins. IMHO, there is not one plugin today that can get close to the Ross Garfield library for in your face realism and pristine sound quality.

Phil,

I understand what you are saying but you should check out Ocean Way Drums.... don't know if the kit sound is in their package but what is there really does sound "studio" quality with mega realism built into the samples and the sample layout. Squid's iMAP is simply a wonderful thing for "keyboard" drums. The different artics you get for each drum kit piece is amazing.

Check it out.
