Hello folks,
Is there a faster way for me to switch between the arrow cursor and the pencil cursor?
My hand hurts so much from having to change the cursor by clicking every 5 seconds.
Thanks!!

There's a KVR Mutools forum. If you want I can move the thread there. Or it can stay here, either is okay.
Many programs have hot keys mapped to commonly used functions. Check the manual / docs for "hot keys" or something similar. Using one hand for keys, one for mouse, works pretty well for some people.

(Yes, I'd prefer this thread to be placed in the MuTools forum.)

The 'T' key will do the trick.
From the description of the sequence editor:
From the description of the sequence editor:
# There are 2 main mouse tools: The Arrow tool and the Pencil tool. You can switch between these tools via the Mouse Tool Box at the bottom right of the composer, by clicking the middle mouse button or by pressing the [T] key. Or you can quickly toggle tools by holding [Ctrl].

Just use a Google site-specific search: add "site:mutools.com" to your search (w/o the quotes), and you'll only get search results from the MUTOOLS site.halfstep wrote:I was in despair when I saw the Mu.Lab manual .. No search box!!

Yeah, the toolbox approach has been phased out in MuLab3. If double clicking is too much, as it sometimes can be if you pencil your notes in, you can also hold ctrl and single click to your heart's content.halfstep wrote:I can't change the cursor by pressing T on MuLab 3.

Hi,
the toolbox is gone in M3, now it's much faster, simply press CTRL and the pencil will appear. Note that you can also just doubleclick in the composer view or in the sequence (midi) editor to create a part or a note.
I recomend you to have a look at the mulab docs, just a few pages of text, to have an overview of how things work.

Here I like to add something that probably is not critical but...
You can change the way the pencil work as a default by going in the MU.LAB text:
From http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/preferences.html
EditorNavigation : Defines how the editor panning and zooming is done. Value=MouseWheelZooms or MouseWheelScrolls. Default=MouseWheelZooms.
One thing I don't understand is that if I need the Pencil to write with One Click, as a default, I also need to change the Mouse Wheel behavior which is "PERFECT!!!" as it is.
It would be "SO GREAT" to keep the wheel as it is and to be able just change the Ctrl-Pencil thing.
This is the ONLY thing I found to be a glitch in the Workflow. It would give the superior Midi editing, that M3 has achieved over the competition, and the smoothness of writing as in the original Mu.Lab prior to M3. Win Win!

This has nothing to do with the pencil behaviour i'm afraid.liquidsound wrote:Here I like to add something that probably is not critical but...

I've got a note on the wishlist to research a further finetuning of the tool system so there is a way to pencil with a single click. It would be "SO GREAT" to keep the wheel as it is and to be able just change the Ctrl-Pencil thing.

My quotes are from the beta times of M3.mutools wrote:This has nothing to do with the pencil behaviour i'm afraid.liquidsound wrote:Here I like to add something that probably is not critical but...

I'm sorry if I'm wrong but I wrote that based on memory.
That's not right, I should have checked before writing.
I do remember that in order to change the Pencil to a single click the wheel was also effected. Unless you did fine tune this or something else was effected by this.
The note on your wishlist about One Click Pencil and leaving everything else AS IS is really coming close to perfection in my view because it would really feel as you are doing it with real Pencil an paper.
It may interfere with the multiple selection but maybe not and if you could turn that around for the one click users it would be really great. It's so smooth.
The way we zoom and drag around the key editor is the best of ANY DAW out there..
It's so intuitive and fast it's amazing. I do appreciate it because of the intense work I do by hand, maybe for other users is not so critical. I hope it will stay the same
Looking forward to the WL!
