Hey fellows, for the past two days I had some personal chores so couldnt come up with the new build #23. Hopefuly tonight we'll have a new build that includes Laurent's wonderful presets as well and the preset count will go up to 300+

what about presets for the individual Fxs?

Ok, I've got one: running the standalone beta 22, it crashed when I selected the preset "SyncingDeep", leaving a zombie process that took several minutes to die despite repeated attempts to kill it from Task Manager. On trying to recreate the problem, the crash occurs about 50% of the time, but even when it doesn't crash, I get no sound from that preset.

More minor: I'm getting redraw artifacts (the big "SynthMaster" and "KVR331 Audio" text near the top, mostly, but also the preset name window) when the main window is moved behind something else (or off screen) and then exposed again. Strictly cosmetic (minimizing/maximizing fixes it) but kind of annoying.

I fixed the issue with this one. Will hopefuly release it tomorrow after I finish editing the new 70 presets from Laurent.

EDIT: The issue had to do with using Pulse/Noise waveforms.

EDIT2: Our name is KV331, not KVR331

Hi fellows,

We have a new build: 1.9.9.23

Here are the updates:

1. UPDATE: We have 70 more presets, thanks to Lotuzia. That brings the total preset count to 288!

2. FIX: Keyscalers are not initialized when presets are loaded.

3. FIX: Basic/additive pulse/noise osc might cause crash.

Now let's see what other issues we still have!

VST dll not recognise in Mixcraft or Reaper. Nor in Cantabile Lite.

I tested with Reaper. I tried to clear cache and rescan plugins, Reaper froze during scanning SynthMaster when the popup window was displayed. That's a bug on Reaper's end though, I'll report it on their forum.

First thing first. I unarchived the rar file of version 1.9.9.22. No installer so I just copy it over to the programs directory. Then I copied the SynthMaster2.dll to the VST directory.

Mixcraft at the moment is perhaps not viewed very highly maybe because it does not allow routing but its interface is one of the most intuitive and nicest around. I suspect the next version will have routing. Mixcraft can recognise the Synth1 VST dll but not SynthMaster2.dll. There are lot of people who don't need things like gating effects for dance music stuff who uses it.

In FL 9 Demo, adding SynthMaster (this time I can see it in the VST list) gave the following response "There was a problem opening SynthMaster2 for some reason. Please make sure it has been installed properly".

The beta manual appears to be a subset of the full manual and covers only the synthesis features. I assumed that installing the VST involved just copying the dll file in the VST directory.

The standalone works fine.

One suggestion, in browser mode. Could selecting one category of preset unselect the existing one. If someone wants to select 2 or more categories, they use CTRL like with the windows interface or make it an option to have this way or the existing way. I find it a little awkward having to click to unselect and then click to select a new category.

Will there be more presets oriented to non electronica style music next week? Something like what Rhino has.

My bad, should have given Installation instructions, will add that in the next release. You should copy ALL fules in the archive to your VstPlugins folder, not just the DLL.

I got this theory. All the people who worked with acoustic instruments are sensitize to the acoustic sound. In the case of piano people, those who learn it before the time of digital pianos, something like TruePiano and Pianoteq just sounds horrible. While those who worked with digital pianos, these are very good because they are sensitize to the character of sampled sounds.

Because of wide spread use of synthesizers in electronic music, young audience are now sensitized to the character of synthesised sounds. So sampled acoustic instruments sound like well, grandpa's music. So it maybe possible that they will be more receptive to more old skool type of music with synthesised acoustic instrument sounds. Kind of like UB40 remaking Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love which in turn was based on an old french folk song written in the 18th or 19th century.

You already have something like that in your demo song "80's Rock Demo"
by Mitch Park. A pad in place of a guitar rift. The lower tone shrill sound to give a bass guitar sound. And the electric piano that could also be said to sound a little like a guitar that has been processed a lot.

For those who try my presets, please try to turn the mod wheel while playing and well ........ see what happens.

Some instruments also have the EZ knobs assigned, with the hopefully more musical or interesting parameters mapped.

And there are also some notes on some presets wich you might want to read

Almost None of the presets include a reverb (because the reverb unit didnt preserve the stereo scene) so you might want to try them with an external reverb. Fro those who have this one I used very often Aether Hall 1 algo with a 20/25% Dry Wet setting.

Thanks to Bulent who probably had to fight a lot for fixing the levels/Volumes ( All the presets were released with the 9..18 version)

I also want to thank Scot Solida whose percs presets inspired me some patches, and to Ingonator whose demo patches saved me a lot of time as I used some as starting points/ Base templates from time to times. Thanks a lot guys

There are many sides of SynthMaster 2 that are still to be explored.

Just a quick note to say that I haven't seen a crash in the stand-alone since Beta 18 and I think I tried all of them apart from 21. I hope to get some time with the VST this weekend.

AbstractCats checking in SIR!

When I load SynthMaster 2.0: 1.9.9.23 in FL8 the synth opens as it should but
when I press a key on my M audio keystation (I tried using the PC keyboard as well)but no sound and FL gives my a message stating "SynthMaster VST crashed while..." and the standalone loads fine but no sound and crashes after a moment and when I set the I/O properties to USB Device or PC keyboard and press a key it crashes.. Hmmm.

Hope this input is usefull.

Just loading FL8 now!
