or just take the default patch move OSC2 to lane 2 switch to 2.5 mode & Duophonic mode then play a chord (or even better stab some chords)

Hmm... Well, I'm still not entirely sure what Howard meant by "Play mono" with regards to duophonic mode
.
Does mono=legato?
Or is ZPH right - play a succession of two finger chords?

Maybe I am missing something - why move OSC2 to lane 2?djsubject wrote:or just take the default patch move OSC2 to lane 2 switch to 2.5 mode & Duophonic mode then play a chord (or even better stab some chords)
(and do you need to switch to 2.5 mode for duophonic to work?)

I especially like playing mono with that bit of glide2 in duophonic mode - any (on purpose or accidental) legato notes give you a very nice spatial effect.ZenPunkHippy wrote:"Play Mono" had me confused for a minute too, but if you are playing two note chords with a bit of Glide 2 that's instant Rick Wakeman

I get you now. Yes, the greasy slurs between notes is a very nice effectHoward wrote:I especially like playing mono with that bit of glide2 in duophonic mode - any (on purpose or accidental) legato notes give you a very nice spatial effect.

Urs,
the unpleasant "ducking" bug in 2.5 appears to be related to both legato and duophonic modes when overlapping notes. (Host= Abe Live 8.05) Doesn't occur here when using the other modes in 2.5
Switching to 2.3 resolves the problem. Switch back to 2.5 and it's there again.
cheers,
bagginz
P.S
Anyone know why the Glide 2 is bi-polar? I appear to get nothing to the left of 12 oclock...

Glide2 has to be implemented as an offset to Glide because that makes it much easier to use standard portamento (all oscillators). Of course you won't hear a difference with Glide2 below 12 o'clock if Glide is zero!bagginz wrote:Anyone know why the Glide 2 is bi-polar? I appear to get nothing to the left of 12 oclock...

i only say to do these two things as the patch sounds betterhakey wrote:Maybe I am missing something - why move OSC2 to lane 2?djsubject wrote:or just take the default patch move OSC2 to lane 2 switch to 2.5 mode & Duophonic mode then play a chord (or even better stab some chords)

2.3 mode sounds quite different to 2.5 mode but AFAIKT duophonic is working in 2.3 mode,
also putting OSC2 on its own channel makes it more obvious what happening with all keys above the lowest key
just that alone is loads of fun, then when you start tweaking

I thought I found a bug in version 2.5.
Then I realized it was me doing the wrong thing.
Works great for me. It's not slow running, and even with only 1 gig ram, the teaser presets, don't overload the memory. On a G4 1.33ghz PB, that says a lot to how good the design of Zebra really is.
Thanks for the upgrade.

No "ducking" bug in 2.5?MCnoone wrote:I thought I found a bug in version 2.5.

Using the default patch, try switching to legato voice mode in 2.5 mode and overlap some notes. Or hold down one key a make a trill.
Then switch back to 2.3 using the same patch.
Play the same riff. Sound the same?
Here, the attack of the first note in 2.5 mode is twice as loud at the remaining notes (after the legato non-retriggering of envelopes kicks in)
In 2.3, when doing the same actions, it works as it should.

I'm getting a LOT of love from the new XMF, using it in serial/parallel mode opens a serious can of whoopa$$! It's already become a godsent synth in some tracks i'm working on, really hits the spot on some sounds i was looking for.
I think i feel "Switched on 2.5" coming up
Great work Urs! Thanks!

Hi Urs,
sorry to bug you, but do you plan for 2.5 to have the "bring to front" bug fixed? I mean: when you left click anywhere in zebra, it is brought forward to the top of the windows in the DAW (FL Studio at least, does not bring zebra up front when clicking on it's interface)
also there is still a thin blue border in the interface
thanks

I'll deal with these things once all "sounding" bugs are removed... just working on some really mysterious things where (in very rare cases but still) the current betas can sound differently for the same loaded patches... that has naturally a higher priorityGMusic wrote:Hi Urs,

In Live 8.0.5 moving one of the EQ "points" will often cause other points to move in unpredictable ways. It seems that the smaller the original movement the larger the unwanted "sympathetic" movement.
This seems to be the case in both 2.3 and 2.5.
I'm using Novation Automap 3.2 - but it seems to happen even when this is not running.
