I am seriously disappointed with Muse Research's lack of response regarding 1.8 OS updates for Rev. C Receptor users.
When I bought my Receptor last year, I was told that the Receptor 2 operating system would be made available for my Receptor. Now, nearly a year later, I'm left dealing with a company that doesn't respond to its users.
When I commit to paying $2000+ for a device, I expect the company that makes the device to release updates for new features and bugs in its software that effect my device. I expect the company to make the updates available for my device, not just the newer models of my device. AND, I expect those updates to be made available to me for FREE.
Speaking of "FREE", there is another group of people for which Muse Research needs to release updates; the open-source community. The Receptor OS contains software that's licensed under various open source licenses (GPL, in particular). Last I checked (15 minutes ago), Muse Research's FTP site does not contain the open-source licensed code that is used in the 1.8 operating system. I believe that's a violation of various open source licenses.
So:
1.) When does Muse Research expect to release updates to fix the buggy software on the Rev. C Receptors?
2.) When does Muse Research expect to release the open source licensed code that's used in the 1.8 OS?
BTW, if you haven't realized it by now, I'm getting really pissed off.

Well said Surface Pattern and your comments follow my earlier post. I think we both speak for a lot of disgruntled users who are unhappy at the lack of response from Muse.
Muse - if you haven't realised it by now, there are going to be a lot of customers out there who will be opposed to spending any further money on your products as a point of principle, due to your poor quality service. As a result you are damaging the reputation of your company and your ability to sell to completely new potential users as well as existing users.
I would again urge you to respond to the queries that have been raised by your customers in order to restore our faith in your company.

I've solved my problem of waiting for stuff to happen on the Receptor. MacBook Pro and an Ultralite. Now I have what I've wanted to use on stage for about 3 years now, plus other perks like sequencing (reason 4) and taking on-stage pictures with the mac 'photobooth' software, as well as lighted my load-in by no longer needing the 4sp rack. The laptop was already there to act as an interface to the Rev. C using receptor remote, but all that became pretty obsolete rather quickly. Doubt I'll be looking back.

The issue is we discovered the BIOS for Receptor Rev C does not reliable boot a SATA hard drive. We are working towards a solution but I do not have any further information that I provide at this time. However we are very aware of what users want and we are trying to find the best way to provide this to you as quickly as possible.

This is not an adequate excuse. Fedora Linux, the distribution of Linux that the 1.8 OS is based on, supports IDE hard drives. Release the update as an ISO install image. Users that don't care about immediately upgrading the hardware on their Receptors can install the update. This will allow Receptor Rev. C users to have the updated software NOW, even if they do decide to upgrade in the future, and it will give Muse Research more time to find an elegant solution to the hard drive upgrade problem.
Let's talk about that now.
Is there a BIOS update for the default motherboard installed on the Receptor Rev. C that has stable SATA support? If not, is there a free BIOS alternative that supports the motherboard (i.e. http://www.coreboot.org/)?
What model of motherboard is installed on the Receptor Rev. C? I'm happy to do some research to help find a solution to this problem.

When I Google for "MS-7142", I get pages that reference the K8MM-V, with "MS-7142" as a submodel.
