You don't have to trash the preference folder each time this happens. Simply remove the zebra.dll (and zebrify, zebralette, etc..), then load live. Then add the zebra dll file(s) back to their original place and either rescan or close/reopen Live.tschirmer wrote:Tried everything (now on Ableton Live 8.0., the Zebra doesn't show up in the Plugin list. The only thing strange: I couldn't find an entry inside my registry for Zebra yet. Should there be one, and if, where, so I can double check.
I'm on XP and am using Live 8.0.5... I'll download 8.0.8 and see if I have any troubles there and let you know. I'm just not looking forward to another 1gig download since there's probably another Live update in a couple weeks again anyways. Still, I should know soon.
***EDIT***
I've loaded 8.0.8 and the latest Zebra 2.5 build is still fully functional

Okay, I reinstalled Zebra 2.3.1 now, which showed up in Live 8.0.8 and ran perfectly fine. I then installed the new beta, overwriting the 2.3.1 plugin dlls. After a restart of Live Zebra was still listed but unable to start. This time I made a screenshot from the error message.

Yo, I hope to post a fix tomorrow... there were two places that could cause crashes. Trying my best to speed things up...

With all the new things happening... Has Zebra 2.5 (or a new beta), been put on hold?
I've been checking for a new beta for almost a month now, but seems the excitement is all about the new synth's.
I wait with baited breath...

It may seem so, but no, not really.John-E34 wrote:With all the new things happening... Has Zebra 2.5 (or a new beta), been put on hold?

That said, hmmm... I took one week off so to speak, in which I did the ui design for ACE and I spent another three days on the ACE manual. And then there were a few days with real life stuff, such as tax declarations...
Other than that I'm hunting down bugs and adding some little improvements. See, I *thought* the betas were in a good shape but still some people experience mysterious showstoppers. Still trying to wrap my head around these.
But as I said, we'll have a couple of fresh betas shortly (I'm just a bit afarid of the amount of work that has to be put into Zebrify's gui... that's really threatening...)

there was this thread a year ago, explains some of the reasons:

I guess it's something that we have to live with, with u-he being such a small company.

Yeah, hmmm. What I said back then still holds true though. Hadn't I done the research for Bazille's filter, there wouldn't be such a massive update to Zebra's XMF. Stuff like that.Goratrix wrote:there was this thread a year ago, explains some of the reasons:

In addition, unfortunately updates don't really create that many extra sales anymore. I have to extend update cycles and diversify. The goal with Uhbik was about getting into the producer business who find my other stuff too geeky. That worked quite well. The goal with ACE is to break open the market of those who otherwise buy softsynths-that-look-like-hardware. The idea therein is that these people will eventually bother to check out Zebra or any of the other products, so I'm trying to multiply.
Cheers,

How do you uninstall the 2.5 beta? I've got a gig this weekend and want to switch back to 2.3 just to be safe.
I've already deleted:
MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/Zebra*
MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/Zebra*
but the Installer keeps saying a newer version already exists. I've found some other items under Application Support, but it seems like things I want to keep. I don't have any plugins in ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins.

I figured this out -- in case anyone else is wondering. Do "Show Package Contents" on the Zebra2.3 .pkg file and unarchive the Archive.pax.gz file. Just copy the component and VST into their respective directories.bh9090 wrote:How do you uninstall the 2.5 beta?

Actually, I think there's something under MacHD/Library/Receipts/ which contains information about previous installs. I *think* that deleting the Zebra ones lets you install the older version. Not 100% sure though...

That might cause problems for you. You shouldn't alter the package contents, as then it won't be correct with the receipts.bh9090 wrote:I figured this out -- in case anyone else is wondering. As Urs said in the above post, just throw out the package receipt under:
MacHD/Library/Receipts/
Then it will install 2.3 fine.
You can also do a search for all Uhe-Zebra folders, and trash everything except the presets, and mseg's or osc's.
