That sound is so easy, im suprised so many people dont know how to do it.

Its just a few detuned saws with fast decaying envelope, and a chord with lots of notes.

I'm going to see Deadmau5 this month! But I realize the sounds and the sequences aren't where the complexity lies. It's the simplicity and the production that really brings it all together for me.

I saw him two weeks ago at the Roundhouse in London! He's got a great live show. (I also saw Shpongle there on Halloween who were brilliant for different reasons.)

Absolutely! As we're constantly reminded, he uses fairly simple sounds and arrangements - but it's the choice of those sounds in those arrangements that do it. Either you've got an ear for that or you ain't.

Yup, but even Deadmau5 doesn't do it all the time, to me at least a good number of his tracks are bland ad boring, but there's a few that just astound me. Sometimes its just the production, other times its like "what the hell made him think to do that".

Agreed. Most of the stuff on At Play was crap, and a fair bit of the latest one is also boring. But the rest...

Kindly show me where. I've never seen Joel give any patches away, I have however seen and heard him say on numerous occasions that he uses Synth Squad.

hi there, go to tranceaddict.com/forums and go to the producers studio section. over there we had just as many deadmau5 threads before he came over and kindly shared his nord lead 3 settings with us. I gave them to you in this thread as well but no one seems to believe me.


here is where he first states its a nord lead3, there is another thread he gives away every setting (that i already gave you) but can't find it right now

almost every synth / soft-synth can do some "deadmau5" sounds better or worser. My try (few instances of Novation V-Station + some random pad I needed 5 minutes to find in Wusikstation)

it's mostly about envelopes and sidechaining (if you want too).
