Hi all,

I've started to test T3 under Win 7 and it looks not bad BUT: T3 isn't able to remeber any changes, newly created or imported projets even where you've put the lame encoder etc. To me it looks like it can't write to the file where it puts all these data in? Does anybody know where this files is, its name and even better has a workaround?

Cheers Stephan

The settings file should be here.

C:\Documents and Settings\USERID\Application Data\Tracktion 3

Project data can be stored wherever you want.

Stephan - let us know if you get it working properly. There are at least a few of us around that still use Tracktion.

+1 and Good Luck with it!

i've been using T3 on windows 7 with a mackie onyx 400f. it's been running fine...

Are you using Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit version? Also, can you tell me what version firmware you're using on the 400F? I'm curious to find out if you are using the latest version 3.2.8?

Post

I'm using the 64bit release candidate at the moment, and I have the "vista only" 4.6.0 firmware loaded into the 400f. I've had a couple of crashes with tracktion freezing up but that was only because I tried to load 2gb of samples into superior drummer. other than that it's been working flawlessly...

Actually no. That directory (along with several others) is no longer used in either Vista or Windows 7. Your new profile data for Tracktion 3 should be in the following directories under Win 7:

C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Tracktion 3
C:\Users\UserID\AppData\Roaming\Tracktion 3

Tracktion 3 works fine on Windows 7 x64. I've done both an upgrade from Vista and a new install of Windows 7 with Tracktion 3.

stuart - that's great news! Thanks.

Ok so i found the solution for this:

1st if you are gettin crashes when opening "close the program or contact windows for a solution window", disable DEP and reboot, if u don't know how to, google it there are tons of guides

UAC has to be disabled (google it too), or just right click tracktion an use "run as adminitrator option", this is to alow the program to write folders ..

there you go..

I've contacted Loud Tech, and they can say for sure that they are re-developing tracktion for windows 7 32-bit. They could not tell me a)if they plan on writing a 64-bit version or b)whether this will be an update to tracktion 3 or new standalone software that you will need to buy. Does anyone happen to know how to tweak the playback and recording buffers in tracktion 3?

I'm surprised they said as much as they did...

lol me too, that was after a second phone call. the first one gave me nothing except for the fact that they are thinking of developing something.

Haha, that would be a wise move, fixing prolly no bugs, just giving it a Win7-proof-button and then - after all that hassle - charging people for it.

Has Microsoft bought Loud?

I wish they had. At least we'd see another version of Tracktion. And knowing MS they would find a way to tack VBA on there somehow :hihi:
