S.HUSH wrote: Yeah really. The drums are weak, the vocals are so-so (prefer the lower tone to the higher one) and the overall song isn't that great IMVHO. *BUT*, it's a metal tune so cheers for that :tu:

...and dismiss my opinion as just that. I'm really picky with metal to the point I even dislike the metal stuff I do on my lappie, so it's nothing personal. As I stated above, I feel a real drum set with that human touch and powerful vocals are the key ingredients for a good hard satanic blood bath metal tune. That and a mic'd VHT cabinet using 421s :D
No problem, just a few notes:

* It's more along the lines of black metal, which I've been doing since the "second wave" of BM around '93 ( I did DM before that). This short little song was written and recorded in less than a day (on Friday).

* The drums were recordings of a real drummer, not a plug-in or drum machine. (I used betamonkey stuff for this one).

* Back in the day when I was opening for guys like Death/Chuck Schuldiner, Incantation, etc., we didn't have much access to laptops nor did they have a problem with my bands doing metal "right". :hihi:

However: [from the rules in the submission thread]

I don't care. It took 3:29, so sue me. I'm not even a real contestant. If I won I'd just give the prizes to second place.

EDIT: If Scoops want's to disqualify me he can delete my post.

Zombie Queen - The elf voices and chimes really put me in a Christmas mood. Reason and Logic could make good Christmas presents, yes?

Folderol - Little children, Teletubbies, and the like. I could picture hearing this on a children's show, perhaps. Certainly annoying that way.

Knockman - Perhaps one of the most minimalist tracks I've ever heard. And I generally like some minimalist stuff.

LauraMichelJarre - This doesn't seem extremely angry to me. That said, the singing is excellent and the lyrics quite clever.

Patrick9 - Not so angry in a way. But this is a neat little piece of old school darkwave.

Robojam - Sort of a taste of old school punk with a breakbeat vibe. Extra points from me for the distorted bass!

Voidoid Surrealist - Power Noise. 'Nuff said.

Farlukar - More underground noise, just a bit more subtle. Puts me in mind of some softer Brighter Death Now material. Cool.

Mrblitz000 - Hard to describe this! Old ZZ top overdosing on acid, maybe? I like that chaotic feel to it.

Psy-T - Well, I dig some Monty Python Stuff. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" was great. "O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." :hihi:

Thanks. I concede it wasn't screaming anger or rage. Just expressing frustration and annoyance. In Australia being "pissed off" means frustrated more than extremely angry.

Extremely angry?? Naw..but angry enough to crack the facade.

When I think of how totally "proper" she always seemed to be, I thought she'd have to be pretty pissed to sing that song. :)

Classy approach to the theme. Caught me by surprise.

That'll show us, tomg. That'll show us all.

I think to piss someone off by order/idea is not really working well.
But ok, tried it "my way" :x
Hope you like it - not

tomg, just leave it there. We might even vote for it if we like it. :hihi:
Once every 2 years, we do a boot-exchange to get a matching pair. 8)

After some unexpected actions, like speeding up the whole song half a beat to stay within the 3 minutes and consequently remastering, I think I got my final version.
As always I'll need to do a check through the monitors, but my ears are so used to the headphones, I probably can leave it as it is.

In the meanwhile I've loaded up the thing into the shack I have, somewhere in the internet backyard of Kara-Moon's server and the link worked.
So I'm ready to launch "Sheet" on the public.

Good night,

Show you what? I came over here and did a song by invitation because someone said the contest needed some more entries. I provided instant art by request to help support your contest.

I don't know the rules. I've never done this before because I don't generally feel like it's fair for me to compete in these things. I have no intention or need to collect prizes. If by any chance I do win, they can either go to other entries or be held over for December.

If you don't like the song that's fine. If you feel threatened by it don't be.

BTW, here's a link to a nice photo montage of an excursion some of my friends did a few weeks ago, through the mountains to a nice beach (in the area behind my house).

Tom, please do not worry. D.H. Miltz tried to do some Police-Stuff concerning the rules, just listen to what Max said 8)
