All the smacktalk and fighting is really silly. I think these drums sound great and I'm considering picking them up (you can never have too many drums.) You have stiff competition from Goldbaby, who pretty much does the same kind of stuff with vinyl/tape/analog drums, but I'm tempted nonetheless!
Shreddage 3 Stratus: Next generation Kontakt Player guitar, now available!
Impact Soundworks - Cinematic sounds, world instruments, electric guitars, synths, percussion, plugins + more!

Thanks man.
On a happier note...
I bought a book before I started creating this library that really changed my life, at least in the recording area.
That book cost $100 shipped. It's called "Mixing With Your Mind".
http://www.mixingwithyourmind.com/index.php
This book is filled with a lot of great wisdom. I personally feel that two techniques described are worth the price alone. One is "cracking compressors", and the other is "don't sweep". Those are quick and easily learned techniques that I applied to the creation of the demo MP3s.
There is one large thought through out the book that really impacted the way I organized this library. It has to do with left brain (logical) vs right brain (creative). Stav makes a strong case for doing all the technical chores before getting into the creative process. That is why I choose to group the sounds by texture rather than by instrument name.
Anyways, I thought I'd comment on the great value I got from the book and it's impact on this library. Stav's a pretty nice dude who takes the time to answer readers who have questions.
best,
Nathaniel

having left this thread for a few days and then come back to find several pages of rather entertaining flamewar i have to say that tonebldr comes out of it all looking pretty good.
i still just wish u would stop blowing your own trumpet tho. really, its childish. if u were sitting next to me in a bar i would make my excuses and leave...
but yes, the demo kicks are really nice.

Fair enough. I thought I was just providing information in response to a personal attack and giving people value on recording thoughts I have. Sorry, never intended to come across as blowing my own horn. I guess you can never tell how things will be perceived...monkeyweasel wrote:having left this thread for a few days and then come back to find several pages of rather entertaining flamewar i have to say that tonebldr comes out of it all looking pretty good.

I think if you were sitting next to me in a bar, I'd probably come across pretty humble.

I want to thank everyone for reading this topic. I hope there is enough information available for you to make an informed decision. Any questions can be directed to nathaniel (at) drivenmachinedrums (dot) com.
I also appreciate any positive successes or constructive criticism.
I'm out of here on the full time basis, but will of course respond to any real requests for support or information.
Time to let this one fade down and let others have the spotlight. I'll be back when the complete FX package is finished. Here's some feedback on the filters that will be included:

cheers everyone!
Thanks to everyone who supported and took the chance to try it for themselves.

Meffy, all due respect, but you're making a false equivalence.
For the record, ghetto, I have auditioned/used plenty of drum libraries, including many years of CM cover discs. The point I was making, which was so conspicuously disregarded, was that, regardless of what you think of DMD's webpage, these are actually what is promised, you get what you pay for, and there is no 'scam.' I was just adding my voice that in my early experience that this guy was on the up and up, that my initial reaction to the content was really positive. But no, my experience and opinions are impugned, 'cause since this guy is obviously a flim-flam artist and fraud, everyone who isn't similarly distrustful of him must be a shill. I couldn't possibly know what constitutes value in a sample library, right?
Anyway, I was sorta pulling my punches because I hadn't fully explored the library, but I spent a couple more hours with it last night, and while I still haven't fully scratched the surface there's a ton of great stuff here. I will absolutely say this is a first class drum sample library. My hunch paid off, and I have a top notch drum library of really mighty and meaty drum sounds. With but a few exceptions every sample I audition has made me stop and say, 'wow, that's great, I can *definitely* use that.' That this is soon to be a rare and secret sauce makes it just that extra cool.
As someone here said, you can't have too many drum samples; or, to paraphrase, if you love drum samples there's always room for more. This is a superb collection made with obvious care and pride that easily ranks up with the best boutique collections that are the gold standard of drum samples. And if you're going to get all huffy over something as fascicle as his obviously not calculated 'marketing' presentation, well, you're loss.
I don't know why this ghettosynth dude has such an ax to grind about these samples, or what specifically on the DMD page got his knickers in a twist - in fact, he doesn't ever seem to point to anything specifically, just vague ever-shifting innuendo and criticisms. Look at his first post in this thread; not only does he passive aggressively call the OP a liar but maligns anyone who took an interest in what was being offered. We're all dupes. So, yeah, that's what I was reacting to. And it's pretty obvious what N. has been responding to and it's not out of line at all; that he's still maintaining a modicum of good will is pretty impressive. Especially when just about everyone, including you Meff, has felt a need to take a swipe at the guy. (Really, there wasn't any reason you couldn't have addressed that sample accusation in a PM? Just had to put that out there into the swamp of supposition? And then to pull mod rank is at very least disingenuous.)a false equivalence fallacy occurs when someone falsely equates an act by one party as being equally egregious to that of another without taking into account the underlying differences which may make the comparison patently invalid.

I didn't make any equivalences at all, simply reminded everyone to keep behavior civil and generally within the rules. No equivalency is needed, and none was claimed. Since things are sorted now the point is moot anyway.puffer wrote:Meffy, all due respect, but you're making a false equivalence.
Also, a question is not an accusation. I was careful to word my question in a way that made it clear I understand that sounds follow many paths to release.

LOLLOL.
This is getting absurd.
Now I'm having fun.
The best part is I didn't even have to pay Ghettosynth for this exposure!
WEEEEEEE!
I really have no idea what you're on about, but f#¢k it's funny.
I'm assuming the best course is to Alienate the user, speak in Vulcan logical data data data logical, make the user click 8 times to read the info, only have a few sounds to demo, and have no return policy aka "take the money and run".
I'm going to try that approach next.
Where's my copy of Catcher in the Rye? I can't decide if I should read that or stare at my Jodie Foster poster.
I'm assuming Mike Stav is in the secret CLUB then? No way he ever worked at AIR studios... gotta be a scam.

The funny thing about wearing Rose Tinted Glasses is that everything appears RED.
Which is a way of saying "what you look for will appear".
Seek and you shall find.

Did I miss something? I aint reading 7 pages of posts, 90% of which are pointless. Having read the original post, this brings up an important point, which I covered a week or so ago when I asked about copyright of individual drum hits. It intimates that you have sampled the likes of 606, 808, 909 etc etc? ooohhhh
