Thanks
The modulation stuff might look like NI Massive, but overall SynthMaster 2.0 is a lot different (and probably in many areas more powerful) than NI Massive. And of course it is cheaper :D

If everything goes as planned November 15-20 is our release date for 2.0

The modulation stuff is indeed similar to NI's massive but overall Synthmaster is very different, especially sound wise. If you have interest, check KV331's thread here at KVR or the link to his website on his post here in this forum. A few moments looking through the details of the instrument and you'll see just how different they really are. If phat is one of the options then I would say Phat is the correct choice. Might get me to re-install massive and see how well the work together.

One of the best things is that you will be able to just add your own skins, and change to them at will from synthmaster so you can do your major programing in the default skin, and then use a another GUI customized for that patch. Besides this GUI and the one that I've already done, I have been building up a library of things that will be useful for doing just that sort of thing with Skinman/knobman with Synthmaster in mind. So users will just be able to Load elements in from the library and just stretch them and position them where needed. Skinman will hopefully be a major resource for Synthmaster and its users. Skinman is certainly getting a workout with Synthmaster.

I hope the author of SkinMan changes its licensing to ShareWare or something. It's a great tool, I donated to it, and wouldnt hesitate to pay for it.

I wasn't feeling well but could not sleep anymore so I decided to try and emulate the Casio VL-1 in Skinman. I'll let you guys be the judge how well I did. Its all in Skinman, nothing's animated etc etc just the basic idea.

Skinman file update v3 as seen below: http://www.box.net/shared/t0cbmo1n4s

Thanks Duncan for the comment.

future of the GUI...still have to workout the rest of it. I also want to do the inside of it at some point, here a cool site with some pics:

I was thinking of trying to make a circuit bent VL-1 emu with Reaktor, programing the 'circuit bent' fx would be done on a GUI that looks like the internal of the VL-1. Wanted use use various gates to trigger FX and, of course, opening up the drum patterns and synth settings to be programed this would sort of be the general basic editor for it, so a literal representation of the font panle of the VL-1 is not really of much a concern for me. The keyboard button would either show actual played note for the synth, trigger for rhythm, or trigger for FX, but I don't think I'll get to the Reaktor build, maybe I'll inspire some one to do a Reaktor,SE, vst version or something and they can use the GUI here.

did some more work on the GUI if anyone is interested in it. I've updated the file. The sequencer and menu etc are merely samples that I made to show what sort area would be open for parameters.

I looks really good, but I do thionk the black knob and metalic knobs are slightly mismatched.

I'd choose one or the other style, then stick to it to give a greater consistency to the theme.

Imo of course! :)

As mentioned, the genral quality of the GUI is very high and looks great. For me, it's just those black knobs that stick out as being out of place when all the rest of the knobs look like their off a Moog. the black knobs remind me more of a 303, and your skin looks more 'analogue/Moogish' to me than 'Metalic/Rolandish' if ya know what I mean? :D

I still feel you'd get a more consistent/solid vibe using a metalic style knob in place of the black knobs.

Nothing says you have to stick religiously to the original design spec!

All in my opinion again! :)

I forgot to add this..Image

The UI to my entry to DC09 was done entirely in Skinman & Knobman, apart from the paper background which was modified from a free texture

So you mean something like this, I think:
