thought i followed the instructions below but it's not working for me

midi input port 1 axiom 25 midi output port 1 tascam us-144

since there were no midi output boxes in the mpa i
r-click chose add plugin > input/output > event output
a box was created titled no midi output
dbl-clk on that box brought up a window from which i should have been able to select midi output port 1
but the word none is the only option???

Q: How can I sequence my hardware synths via MIDI?
A: MU.LAB differentiates between a MIDI Port (MIDI Setup) and a MIDI Output (Modular Plug Area aka MPA).

In order to use MIDI Output there are 2 things to check:

Check Edit menu -> MIDI Setup -> Choose at least 1 MIDI output port
In the MPA, double-click the MIDI Output box (create one if not yet there) and choose one of the MIDI ports that you have activated in the previous step
Now you can use that MIDI Output as a target for any sequence part.

The sequence part can also target a rack, and the rack can target the MIDI output. This way you can insert MIDI plugins in the rackthat will process the events before they're sent to the MIDI output!

Note that, by default, when you do "New Session" MU.LAB automatically creates a MIDI Output for each activated MIDI output port.

Note that you can choose the MIDI channel via the sequence part's context menu or via the track's context menu if you're using track targets.

When you double-click an Event Output plugin in the MPA, you should indeed be able to select any MIDI output port that has been enabled in the MIDI Setup. (Edit menu -> MIDI Setup).

Jo,

I now own a copy of Windows 7. MULAB can see my Axiom 49 MIDI IN and OUTs. MULAB can also see my Audiophile 2496 MIDI IN and OUTs.

I do not know what is going wrong for this user, but my PC and O/S works fine in the MPA under Windows 7 etc. So this is not a Windows 7 MULAB issue.
