People evaluate music subjectively? I am shocked. Shocked and appalled.

Fortunately, that's *never* happened in a KVR music contest before.

I WILL NOT BE OUTDONE!!!!!

This blonde and brunette are watching the 11 o clock news and see a man standing on the ledge of a building ready to commit suicide. The brunette decides to make a bet, "Hey, I'll bet you twenty bucks the guy jumps" The blonde replies, "You're on"!

5 minutes later, the guy plummets to his death.

The blonde grudgingly hands the brunette a crisp twenty dollar bill, "Congrats".

The brunette grabs the bill but quickly hands it back to the blonde, "I-I can't accept this"?

BLONDE "Well why not"?

BRUNETTE "Because I cheated. I actually watched the 5 o clock news and they had already shown the man jump to his death".

BLONDE "Well, I saw the 5 o clock news too, but I didn't think the guy would jump twice"!

SO HA!!!! BEAT THAT!!!!!

 Much too kind. Although I think it's not all bad for 8 manhours of work, and it was the Baptism of Fire for my new Cubase 5. (but I did NOT use it's autotuning features!! ;) but damn it's slow and crackle prone ... I hope there's a checkbox somewhere in its bowels that makes it run normally)
vespers75 wrote:The Indiana Jones/Star Wars theme melody bits at the end were funny too (Have a thing for Harrison Ford, do you? ) Funny indeed, which didn't feel angry to me.
You mean you weren't pissed off by Indy 4 and Star Wars 2/3 prequels?? Thanks!!

Cheers Matt
Every time you use autotune, God kills a kitten.
Please, think of the kittens.

Well, occasionally I do vote for entries I don't actually like but that I think are really good and/or fit the theme really good.

I'd even vote for entries by people I don't like, imagine that :hihi:

Aziraphal, the 'typical' people you refer to aren't the ones that put colour onto something; they're rather grey.

See ya,

That's how I look at it too.

I'm going to consider everything based on the theme and vote accordingly. I think this one has produced a few entries that to me just don't seem relevant to the theme. Just my opinion.

Man, that sounds rather objective, eh? :hihi:

Seriously though, I agree. I've known some fantastic musicians that I personally thought were c**ts, but I wouldn't rag on their skills simply for that reason.

True, which is what I meant earlier when I mentioned things being subjective, particularly with a theme such as this. Its almost as if there are two themes this month. One interpretation is to make music that portrays anger, the other is to make music that is supposed to annoy or anger the listener. So naturally, the way one decides to look at it when creating a song for it, will likely be the same way they look at it for voting as well (Personally, my choice of votes would look entirely different depending on which "view" I went with). It doesn't make it any easier that some of us are from different "musical worlds", so to speak :hihi: . I imagine that considering next month is to be some sort of genre theme, things will be a bit less confusing next time.

You must be new here.

Differing theme interpretations and differing ideas about how one should vote are pretty standard. Even very direct themes like "3/4 time" or "less than 60bpm" resulted in some discussion and interpretation.

But at least those get resolved to the point where entries to the contest eventually sound relevant.

Yeah. You caught the little winky face in my post, right? I suppose the "you must be new here" meme is more popular on Slashdot than on KVR.
