Hi there,
New here. I'm just waiting delivery of a Receptor 2 Pro.
I'm wondering what I'll be able to expect in terms of performance for Live use.
Possible Scenario?:
Controller Keyboard 1 ( My keyboard player ):
Running Kontakt with VSL Complete VSL KS X-Fade Violins+Violas+Cellos plus a Simple Choir Instrument (Single midi Channel)
Simultaneously running with
Controller Keyboard 2 (Me )
Running Ivory
So, I play the piano parts and my keyboard player plays Orchestra/Choir all from one Receptor 2 pro?
Now that's quite alot of polyphony. (The strings go up to 100 voices alone at times)
Go on tell me this is going to work.
Not sure I can stretch to TWO receptors just yet. Are comprimises needed/possible? (Limiting polyphony in Kontakt)
Could we stretch beyond this to having amplitube running on the guitar input also? How about Battery from some pads too? No need for any real instruments at all.
What are the sensible, stable, real limits for live use?
Thanks
Getting excited about my new delivery.

My guess is it should work fine. I just tried replicated your Konakt setup (Violins, Violas, Cellos all keyswitches). I added a Harp as well (since i don't have any Choir patches installed on my Receptor). After tweaking some settings in Kontakt I was able to get it to run stable at about 64 samples. My guess is you'll be fine with that setup if you run it at 128 samples and a rate of 44.1 (althought I'm not sure about adding battery and amplitube...perhpas at 256! samples of latency).

Thanks for getting back.
That makes me feel good.
I was actually planning on using the all keyswitches together with ivory/acoustic piano (controlled via a second keyboard) or did you include this in your calculations?
The latency isn't such an issue I think.
I can probably live with 512 even
Time will tell.
Still waiting on the unit, as it seems the courier failed to deliver it and returned it to the sender.
They're trying again, now.

Hi there,
Got my receptor. WOW.
Would you tell me what tweaks you did in Kontakt?
I'm still getting pops/crackles on staccato chords (sudden disk activity?) at
128/256. Did you have the convolution reverbs activated?
The CPU meter is not maxing out at these moments.
Not running Muse remote control seems to help a bit.
Preload buffer size too: do you have a special amount for this?
Would appreciate your further help. Loving this thing!

Brutze,
Disabling the convolution reverbs in Kontakt can help a lot, but the biggest help is going to be disabling multi processing. Click on the cog shaped button in Kontakt's edit view to bring up the options window. Click on the button for 'processing' and then make sure 'multicore' processing is disabled. The other thing you can do with Konatkt is load Multiple instruments at a time. This means that instead of having 5 seperate instances of Kontakt loaded on your Receptor mixer you can load 5 Kontakt instruments inside one instance of Kontakt to save processing power. Just set the MIDI filter for the channel to 'all' and 'thru'.

Hi, guys--
I use two controllers in my live setup, and I'm *this* close to pushing the button on a clearance-store Receptor 2. Before I do, though, I just want to make sure it'll do what I need it to do.
I play a Roland Handsonic HPD-10 percussion pad and a set of Roland PK-5a MIDI pedals at the same time. I'd love to assign each instrument its own MIDI channel, with the Handsonic triggering drums and percussion (from BFD or Battery, for example) and the pedals triggering basses, strings, pads, and stabs (from Omnisphere or Trillian or something from Arturia).
Is this asking a lot from a Receptor 2? Can I set it up so that I can send program changes from either instrument? And can I set up combinations (my fave Battery electro set plus my fave Trillian upright, for example) that I can easily recall on stage?
Thanks in advance,
Elton

I believe that will be no problem at all.
I'm running Ivory and Multi channel Kontakt 3 right now from 3 controller keyboards without problem.
It's really like taking my studio sounds onto stage. All the samples from my album are in the live set.
I love this thing.

Elton,
Receptor should be able to do what you want it to do processor-wise, but you should note that Trillian and Arturia products are not compatible with Receptor right now.

@Kevin,
Thanks for the swift reply. Is there anywhere in Chicago that I can plug in my Handsonic and PK-5a pedals before I buy a unit? Please tell me there is! (My local Sam Ash is trying to get rid of a Receptor C, but that's about it.)
@Brutze,
Your enthusiasm is awesome... Very inspiring!
