[quote="tonebox"]Here's a dream I have and I'm wondering if it could work (looks to be a stretch). Could the V-machine support the Novation Nocturn? I like this one especially due to the realtime LED control knobs and the small footprint. The world could use one of these devices with Midi jacks!
I believe the Novation requires it's own software to use...
Check out http://www.ucapps.de/. It's actually pretty easy to build your own custom controller, and an 8 knob, 8 switch box can be built for about $50 - I've built a singe manual hammond replica I use with the Vmachine, and b4II and it's really a joy to use, and far cheaper than anything on the market. The Vmachine's worth the price just for running the b4 plugin. http://s935.photobucket.com/albums/ad197/jimsmiley/.
Cheers

Boahh - looks great! Unfortunately not everyone is as skilled to build his own controller...
Nocturne ist great if small size is important, but for functionality & feel I personally think the Behringer BCR2000 is still unbeaten - 40 endless rotary controls (24 + 4x8), 20 buttons and 4x8 push knobs for around € 150 - and it works very well with the V-Machine; needs no software to install, just connect and it works - the feel of the controls is excellent - here are some videos using this combination:

Has anyone of you running NI's MASSIVE and can say something about the CPU?!?
Although MASSIVE is listed to run on the V-Machine I can't find anyone how really does it and reports on the reliability.

Alright
so I finally got my v-machine.
After a couple of days of trial and error I am pretty happy.
I am running a bank with the 8 layer scarbee rhodes and a 10 layer free Sonart Yamaha piano sample. With two different eqs on the two channels, reverb, and a tremolo on the rhodes.
All at 128 buffer size from the usb stick, switching midi channels on my casio CDP100 digital piano.
Lightweight amazing sounding rig!
And, thanks to the 'LEARN' function, the reverb/chorus button on my casio is switching the tremolo on and off. Sweet!
I did reduce the samples to 16 bit 32khz, they still sound great for live use, and take up much less memory.
Now, I do have a few of issues:
Importing banks in the internal memory from the usb stick doesn't work, I've already tried this:
http://smproaudio.helpserve.com/index.p ... ticleid=52
with no results.
I updated the machine to the latest firmware and cleared the internal memory to make room for my samples, which are smaller than the internal memory, so they must fit.
Also I read somewhere that it should be possible to lower the buffer size to 64, mine goes to 128. So, is this possible?
The headphones output: has anybody tried using as a line out?
It makes all kind of noises and barely any sound. It works fine with actual headphones.
I would like to use as a monitor out playing live. I do this with all my keyboards and it has always worked fine. Even the Macbook headphones out works! Just a simple stereo minijack to two 1/4 jacks.
Can't do it with the V-machine. This really bugs me.
Thanks!

@people from SM pro Audio
I found this forum after ages of searching for a community where people use the V-machine. Why doesn't SM Audio just hosts it's own forum? I mean a lot of Sm pro audio workers react in this forum, why not have your own? Would make a lot more sense to me?
Also: Is there a way to enlist in a beta program to test new software ?
And would it be possible to enlighten us how you have improved the software? Maybe some scoop screenshots?
Could you tell me the manufacturer of the CPU? Is it X86, or ARM?
thanx!

I use the headphones output live and haven't had any problem. But it's a pain I have to use a minijack because the main output doesn't have any hardware volume control. It was promised that the headphones volume knob would also serve for the main output, but SM promises are always.....lotsakeys wrote: The headphones output: has anybody tried using as a line out?

To the SM forum, not the same but I created this group:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Vm ... =259420486
not much activity. It seems people prefer to read 120+ pages to find an answer, with all kind of cross posted messages....
There are still a lot of things to improve to this machine, but I don't thing they will do because to their ears any improvemenet just comes from one user, not a whole community.

I am thinking about registering a domain for a forum. Something like www.vmachinesforum.com or something like that. I am able to install a nice forum, however i need permission from SM Pro audio (since it contains a patented name) and i need moderators. Maybe you want to help ?mon8169 wrote:

I just found out that it works if there's nothing plugged in the main line outs. Strange, and useless for me, because I want to use both outputs.mon8169 wrote:lotsakeys wrote:

I actually appreciate the fact that the volume control doesn't affect the main outs, so that I can change my monitor out without changing the the out to the PA.
I guess it's an impedance problem, I'll have to ask my technician to build me some kind of impedance changer.

I just joined the Yahoo group - looking forward to more info!
BTW, just got a good deal on the big Sampletank bundle (IK Multimedia Total Workstation 2 bundle) at MF, it was $314 delivered with the Cyber Monday discount.
I'll probably be asking for help getting all of the new stuff working on my V-machine!

I would join and help, but I prefer to receive emails. Having to remember to visit a site once in a while to be shure you don't miss anything is quite anoying to me. And I would forget to do it!!VMotion wrote: I am thinking about registering a domain for a forum. Something like www.vmachinesforum.com or something like that. Instead of a forum, smproaudio has the following...
1. A ticketing system, which can be posted to and fro via email. This means you can open a new ticket and the first available support person around the world that speaks your language can reply. With access to multiple official support people in different time zones this works very well.
2. A knowledge base full of articles on any topic that users ask us about more than a few times. You can look over the articles to see what other questions are being asked and also get instant answers without waiting.
Both of those resources can be found at...
http://smproaudio.helpserve.com
A big advantage is the moment the newer software is released, these articles can be updated with the most up to date information, instead of pages of outdated information left on a web forum which confuse and frustrate people as the answers that used to work are no longer helpful.
Forums are great and very useful to speak with other users however there are many places around the internet where that can already be done. For help and support I can only recommend you use the official channel which has been setup to provide the best help.

great.... but it doesn't work. Reason: the answers to problems are private not public. You then decide what to put on the knowledge base and what not, but your opinion differs from ours...MatthewSkinner wrote:Instead of a forum, smproaudio has the following...

for example, I had a ticket about problems trying to import a free plug. You discovered you had an error in your software (license related... for a free plug!!! go imagine) that had to be repaired with a new firmware... well, I'm still waiting for the update (last one was in February?). Don't you think other people also had this problem? I dont see any info about this on your knowledge base.
And, how often is it suposed we have to look at the knowledge base to find new info?

By reading through this thread I can see a lot of frustation trying to get some stuff to run. But it's a fact that plugins can be adapted to the V-Machine with some strengts from the developer side. Unfortunately not too many are taking this challenge. We took the effort to do it in a three months development process.
So if you are tired by dealing with wizard files, installation issues, incompatibility, crackles and cpu overloads, then check the VM Bundle which is available for HALF PRICE until December 31st:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 23#3876523
No wizard files needed, fully adaped and supported, running smoothly at 256 samples buffer size - delivering phantastic VA sounds; for just €49 currently which is really a bargain deal
