ACE is warm - undeniably so. It's actually something that I don't perceive in Zebra, but maybe that's just my ears.

I'm a yank, so I'm all down with mob rule. If everyone says so, it must be true - therefore Budweiser is the best beer in the world and ACE is warm no matter what.
Just kidding

Hearing perception is different in everyone.arp_laszlo wrote:ACE is warm - undeniably so. It's actually something that I don't perceive in Zebra, but maybe that's just my ears.
It's natural. So everyones opinions on what something sounds like is always going to be different. Problems only happen when one thinks his own opinion is somehow better than others opinions on what sounds good.
IMO, When someone has as much passion, and drive about creating music software, as Urs does. You can bet what's produced is the best it can be.
I think I'll dl the demo of ACE on that note.

True, but I still would like to know what he means. And I wished he wouldn't have said the A-wordzvenx wrote:although I disagree with the *lone* dissenter, I believe we should appreciate everyone has different tastes...

The one word that keeps popping into my head with regards to ACE is 'real.' There's something distinctly alive about the sound.

Okay, maybe a dumb question, I haven't got too much time to play with this little monster (I'm still at work) but where do you set the overall quality to "normal", etc?

I think that "good" or "bad" sound is very personally.
I for my person am a big fan of Zebra 2,Predator,Albino3 and Blue.
Here I can find the sounds I like to use in my songs.
Zebra2 has hundreds of sounds that I like.
I don't like te sound of Clavia Nordlead, Roland Sonic Cell,Helix (with exception of some very good Bigtone sounds), Largo and Kinisis. That synths have for me a clinical sound.
Why? I don't know.
I think that ACE sounds more like a Nordlead than a Zebra2.
I found only a few sounds that I like to use in my songs so far.
But I think that is not a matter of the quality of ACE its a matter of my personal taste.

My first reaction is: WOW! another hit by URS. That synth have impress me more already than SynthSquad. There is really a feeling of fatness and space that is totally awesome about it. Also it's weird but I didn't see my CPU load that high(I'm on a intel quad Q6850 though). Even at the "acurate" settings the cpu load is really fair(I think that this setting is the best setting)Gucky wrote:... a matter of my personal taste.
This is totally worth the price, no question here.(for me anyway)
If you like Predator and Albino, I think you'll find some qualities in this synth that will fulfil your expectations.
2 big thumbs up to URS, again!
PS (I'm also a big fan of Predator and Blue)

Well, you're right there. It's also very much debatable whether "warm" is such a great description for a sound/synth/ or whatever. You can make any synth sound warm/thin or cold/fat, if you like. ACE can do both.Gucky wrote:I think that "good" or "bad" sound is very personally.
What's not debatable is the quality. Just listen to the difference between standard and accurate rendering of the sound in ACE. Or how you can really push it in the higher registers without achieving any of those quaint artifacts we've all come to love in our soft synths. Or...
awww, just let it speak for itself.

Pretty cool running ACE on a 8 core MAC , i can have 4-6 ACE instances (accurate) taking up 2 cores and still have another 6 cores to run other plugins
, also 'bounce in place' is priceless on Logic9....
