Give Plogue Bidule a try - I think the standalone version is free (or the plug-in, one or the other). It can host practically anything and gives you a load of modulation options and controller gadgets to boot.

Oops - just checked, the standalone is free during the pre-release period (which has lasted for years, however).

loving this new synth, thanks for that. job very well done. without a doubt the best sounding soft i'v tried. now hopefully my serial will arrive soon so i can get rid of the dang crackle

you can use the demo version to do this
