my language?im speaking English i have been all my life
i no what the words hate and horrible mean might be a bit strong but im just disappointed one of my favorite synths is void it uses the same cable concept and i was so excited about this vsti!void was made back in 2004...annoys me that a new synth made in 2009 sounds worse
i dunno just my opinion didn't mean to offend.

If you've been speaking English all your life you might want to learn the difference between the words "know" and "no." I find it helps a lot. "A lot" is also handy to use as opposed to the incorrect "alot" I see all the time. I know that with me when I see the incorrect use of these simple words I think, "foreign or moron?" and hope it's foreign.Dj Troy wrote:my language?im speaking English i have been all my lifei no what the words hate and horrible mean might be a bit strong but im just disappointed one of my favorite synths is void it uses the same cable concept and i was so excited about this vsti!void was made back in 2004...annoys me that a new synth made in 2009 sounds worse

Even when you're disappointed by ACE I wonder how you can "hate" itDj Troy wrote:my language?im speaking English i have been all my lifei no what the words hate and horrible mean might be a bit strong but im just disappointed one of my favorite synths is void it uses the same cable concept and i was so excited about this vsti!void was made back in 2004...annoys me that a new synth made in 2009 sounds worse

Just looked at Void....looks cool, alright, but it's a different type of synth....it's more of an 'erector set' modular, where ACE has got a 'fixed' set of modules, with integration 'hard-wired' in.Dj Troy wrote:what are you talking about buying it...i wouldn't use it if it was free...i have a pretty good pc and my cpu is being hammered its my opinion if you don't like it that's your problem but im entitled to it...if you ask me this vsti is a rip off of void-i only difference is void sounds better seriously i love zebra but this synth is horrible!if you do not no what void is...download it try it and compare for yourself!
ACE *kind of* looks like a Moog Voyager!
Also, note the big price difference: ACE is $85, Void is ~$300!
Naw: Urs doesn't rip anyone off; he goes his own direction, does his own thing.
And I simply can't imagine a soft synth of any sort sounding substantially better then ACE.
I'll take ACE, CPU hog and all....I don't plan on buying a Voyager (love to have one, though), so ACE is great for me.

I'm not quite sure what he's on about.. I tried to decipher it..Dj Troy wrote:[snipped for brevity]
KaramaFX *is* really awesome, but very different than ACE in both principal and design. It's a little more expensive too, but not much.
I think he was talking about Void Modular when he kept saying "void", but I'm not sure. It is about $968 so it's quite a bit more expensive than ACE. I've also never heard of it before either, KVR's DB has no reviews at all. I assume its because no one wants to drop a grand on it while have no idea what it sounds like..
Either way.. I don't understand how someone could completely dismiss it. I mean if you don't like modulars or something, thats cool, I understand, but no one can honestly say it sounds bad..

I think that this is what's being discussed:

It always happens, someone shows up and says something absurd like that. It is inevitable! Sorry, mate, but that's beyond my understanding. Simply calling it horrible and a rip off isn't nice either and is not the right way to criticize something.

With respect to Dj Troy:
My guess is that ACE is bottoming out his/her? machine, which would indeed be frustrating.
ACE is (now) the most CPU-intensive soft synth that I have.
Reminds us all that we can never have enough CPU power.....

That doesn't mean it is "ripping" off Void. They both use the same cable concept because they both emulate hardware modular systems (although in different ways in other respects) - not because one is based on the other. Many virtual modulars use cables that look like real cables e.g. Creamware modular was probably one of the first (if not the first), then the Arturia Moog Modular, Void and others - ACE is in that tradition but it bases itself directly on modular hardware systems - not other software synthsDj Troy wrote:im just disappointed one of my favorite synths is void it uses the same cable concept

No, this is serious.
It's situations like this one that put kvr in danger of collapse.
