How much the theme weighs on the voting in any given month is always open to question. Some people vote purely based on adherence to theme, some vote purely on how much they like the song itself regardless of theme, and most, I suspect, vote somewhere in between.

The only thing that's close to guaranteed is that a song that is enjoyable, well-produced, and on-theme has the best chance of winning. The contestants that do that well tend to win more frequently.

None of that explains how a track consisting of some idiot yelling obscenities over a wall of howling feedback made it all the way to second place, but I guess every set of rules has an exception.

One of the fun parts about being the moderator is that you get this stuff in your PM box. I remember that individual you speak of EV. I got a link to a video that this person made. It said (I say It because it was hard to tell if it was a boy or a girl) that I was responsible for the content of the video for allowing the gossip thread to go on as it was, and it proceeded to smash a guitar.

Oh, btw, we did try a different voting system a while back, but Mello got a little less than mello

That's even more amazing than I remembered. Do you remember the particular month/year for that one?

The great thing about that one is that it hadn't even gotten to the voting stage when he exploded. He was pissed at the (lack of) reaction to his song well before we got there.

Well all I can say is it's a good job I got some votes or it wouldn't have been pretty...
