gts wrote:I just wanted to ask about your presets. I see when you change the distance from 1 to 16m the dray gain changes. I wonder is this somehow calculated to put things in distance, because i don't see any change in pre delay.
The impulse responses are rendered taking the distance dependent attenuation into account (p(r) = p0 / r) as well as the propagation delay (tau(r) = r / c). For a distance r = 16m this results in a propagation delay of round about 50ms. If this impulse response is used for a reverb effect for a musical instrument, then real-time playing becomes almost impossible due to the long latency. To make it usable for musical instruments, I simply cut away the initial zeros of the impulse responses (the same amount of samples for all impulse responses of a preset to preserve sample accuracy).

Thanks for your response, but it's a bit hard for me to understand the technical language

I understand i have to tweak pre delay by myself? Sorry i am a bit confused, i really like your reverb and want to make the most out of it

Sorry. I'll try to explain it in a more comprehensible way.

You don't have to. The included presets are the result of simulating two sound sources (one for each input channel) in a shoebox shaped room. If you change the source distance in the drop down list, then you are using the result of a simulation which differs by the specified distance between the sound source and the listener. Thus, the presets already have proper pre-delays. Of cause you can further tweak the pre-delay and the dry gain to your taste, but this is an option and not a must.

Maybe I can explain this latency issue which I mentioned in my last posting with an example:
Let's assume you want to use HybridReverb2 as reverb effect for playing a software piano like Synthogy Ivory (or any other VSTi). If you would compare the original version of my impulse resonses (including the initial zeros) with the latency-reduced version included in HybridReverb2, then you would come to the conclusion that both versions sound exactly the same. The only difference is, if you use the latency-reduced version included in the HybridRevberb2 package, then you will immediately hear the piano sound when you hit a key. If you would use the original version (including the initial zeros), then you would hear the piano sound just a little bit later, because my simulation software takes into account the time it takes for a sound wave to cover the specified distance (sound propagates with round about 340m/s at "normal conditions"). This "lag" would make it difficult to play your instrument - especially if you are playing fast. The pre-delay, i.e. the time difference between the direct (dry) sound and the first reflection, is not affected by this latency reduction.

Christian

Very interested in the Linux version. No time at the moment to try it out. Don't let me forget :)
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Thanks to everybody who voted for my plugin!
I'm glad you like it as much as I do.

Thanks! I hope you'll get the wild card "random" prize for your TEV plugin. You do deserve it.

Love this plugin...great for clean ambience, but doesn't save presets unfortunately. Don't know if it's still active but there you are. :)

I know this is an old thread, but I really need to be able to save presets with this verb. Anyone figured out a way to do this, or maybe the creator of the verb could offer some advice. I have tried every way I can imagine to save presets, to no avail. Thanks!

New bug fix release
-------------------

Some users reported loud noise bursts when they switched the preset. The problem should be fixed in HybridReverb2-2.0.3. You can get the latest (Windows only!) version from my web server:

http://www.borss.name/HybridReverb2/Hyb ... -2.0.3.dll

Please give it a try and tell me, if it is working as expected.
To do so, remove the old dlls,

-> c:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Vstplugins\HybridReverb2.dll
-> c:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Vstplugins\HybridReverb2_OpenMP.dll

replace them by the new version, and do a re-scan for new VST plugins in your VST host.

Cheers,
Christian

Midiworks wrote:was really excited about this one,
so I installed it on to my Macintosh.
But the plug-in is nowhere to be found,
even after a second installation it does not show up anywhere.

So I installed it on Windows XP.
I can hear that he is doing something but it is freezing the host and I've never seen the GUI.

Hopefully you will get the things fixed before the end of the competition,
it would be a shame if people cannot try and won't consider it for voting.

Cheers
Same problem.

I downloaded and succsesfully installed the HybridReverb2 but I can't find the interface anywhere, it is not listed under applications or anywhere else, I have looked in the HD and can't find anything . The idea is to use it as a plugin in Vienna Instruments.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me to solve this issue.

Regards

A CC
