"Motorcycle sound" is good expression for a kind of sound. I bet you mean the same kind of character I'd call "electromechanical", have to try ACE and hear!debby wrote:
I think ACE has sound like hard motorcycle sound.. Yes.. This is good.. My fat is more hard(also rich and strong) motorcycle sound at bass
Synth such as Sylenth1

Largo two samples. No unison:debby wrote:Igro wrote:What you all mean by "Fat"? Do you mean how fat is unison stereo spread or what?
Well.. It may punchy than fat.. But If only punchy, Massive or Zabra will most punchy.. actually.. all unison synth art fat.. my fat isn't that.. My fat is surely not mean unison..
My fat is will next : ACE is fat than Virus becouse ACE has Power like Virus and Punchy like Massive
Hard to explane.. becouse I haven't Virus.. but If ACE has strong like virus and has rough punchy.. I think ACE is more fat..
for exsmple.. ARP is fat.. Virus is fat too. But ARP is smooth and Virus is more hard, or punchy.. than Virus is more fat than ARP
I think ACE has sound like hard motorcycle sound.. Yes.. This is good.. My fat is more hard(also rich and strong) motorcycle sound at bass

When I listen Massive demo, I knew that is new thing, But I didn't know what that mean. Massive is seems more balanced than Zebra, and Largo seems more ballencd thing than Massive. (I feel Massive is most strong but a little bit not enough bass)
For instrment.. ACE and Largo seems good.. and your mp3 sound has nice filter sound.. It seems like hardwear filter. Also.. high price thing

I love the sound of the banjo and it is certainly 'thin'. One of the reasons I appreciate Zebra is because it is good at making 'thin' sounds that hold their own. Obviously it can do fat sounds too. Lots of synths have to be 'fat' to sound good.ariston wrote:"Fat", "thin", "warm", "digital", "punchy"... ugh. I think that most softsynths sound very much alike when you strip them of their effects and cut down to the bone (i.e., the pure osc in mono). The only real difference is in sound quality: how clear is the sound, are there artifacts, horrible oscillations in the higher registers, muddy bass, etc. Seen from this perspective, a thin sound can be either good or awful. "Thin" or "punchy" does not designate quality (or lack thereof). A piccolo flute is not a tuba.
Fact is, ACE's sound quality is way above the norm. That's why it eats my cpu for breakfast. And it can gladly have my lunch and dinner, as well, for all the joy it brings.

This is one of my Zebra presets. It is a thin sound and meant to be. There are no effects at all, but it still has life and is present.
I don't really understand the obsession with 'fat'. Lots of beautiful sounding real world instruments are not 'fat'.
ACE sounds extra punchy and great on heavy modulations because all the modulations are audio rate (or higher) which is why the CPU is higher. I find it an excellent compliment to Zebra. Never tried Largo yet...

Now. That is a beautiful sound. And as you say, it has life and a lot of presence. I also agree with you with regards to the obsession with 'fat'.pdxindy wrote:

The sound for me has to be 'pleasing'. Whether it is 'phat', thin, harsh or lush, it has to please my ears in some way.

Zebra, Zabra.
Let's call the whole thing off.
