Hi Urs,
would it be possible for you to program a fxp to aupreset converter ?
I would be happy to pay for this, because the aupresetbrowser in logic is really quick and easy to use.
Many other users agree with me as you can see here :

You wrote in a thread some years ago that it would be easy for you to do that :

So, what do you think ?

Hi,
The statement was true for the guy who asked, but it isn't true for the general case. It isn't possible to write a general fxp->aupreset converter.
I'm so over both formats, I even threw in my own format which is crossplatform compatible and can even be opened and edited in a normal text editor.

If you search that thread I believe you will find the factory presets for Zebra that someone converted and also the uhbik presets which I converted.speedyk wrote:Hi Urs,

Yes, I was looking for a general converter.
Most AU Third Party Plugins do not have a very good presetbrowser
like Zebra. With Shift/Alt-Save the Zebra Presets can also be easily
and very quickly converted to the AUPreset-Format. I did that already
within minutes.
My request was a general converter, which works for example
for Linplug Albino for which I probably have more than 5000 Presets. My
programming skills are very basic, I have programmed some Apps for the
iPhone but I do not have enough experience to program such a converter.
I did some conversions for some of my softsynths by hand already, but it really is hard work.

You can change the save type to any different type there in the middle, just below the module grid.
It reads "Patch Format"

While the au preset browser in Logic is nice I only have one third party synth plugin that actually uses it and that's Aalto (plus a couple of fx). And I have a lot of plugins.

I'm not sure why plugin developers can't seem to get on the same basica page with the daws and help the musicians out here by now!! They all seem to think there own preset system is superior then the others.
What we finally need, LORD please is a filesystem that spans across all daws and works with all plugins! jeezzuus

But any Plug-In can use that format it if you save a given setting in Logic as a au-preset, or a combination of Plug-Ins as a Channelstrip.aMUSEd wrote:While the au preset browser in Logic is nice I only have one third party synth plugin that actually uses it and that's Aalto (plus a couple of fx). Many of us work with a few daws, and run many different third party sounds. FXP was tried and true, until Steinberg dropped support for it, though it works fine in some daws still. So i'm still learning mediabay for this @ cubase 6 some plugins will not work with fxp in cubase anymore,so it's all on me to save each preset one by one..(converting and importing i note)
Next Logic uses Aupresets, but with no tools for fxp to au preset, it's back to saving each one by one for all of my instruments..
Studio One does accept fxp's so they are pretty generous i feel.
But then we have dev's that completely go against the grain, no offense like spectrasonics and drop 4000 presets that force you to use their own browser, even if it's not what we want to do.. since they don't export fxps, or au presets.. ur sorta stuck with what is out on the plate, or lose your mind resaving numerous times the same content patch after patch..wow! lol
The preset system with the majority of plugins and multiple daws is completely screwed up imo..
I can't wait for the day a tool is born to take control over this finally!
TILL then ,it's resaving the same presets one by one in different daws. yuck

True - but the problem here is that then I can only use it in Logic and I tend to work between more than one DAW (and OS). So I want my plugins to have presets that will open in them all - that was one reason why Kore was so useful - what we need is one universal format, not a multiplicity of non interchangeable formats depending on host and plugin dev.Sampleconstruct wrote:But any Plug-In can use that format it if you save a given setting in Logic as a au-preset, or a combination of Plug-Ins as a Channelstrip.aMUSEd wrote:While the au preset browser in Logic is nice I only have one third party synth plugin that actually uses it and that's Aalto (plus a couple of fx).
