The issue was discussed before but I thought to make a new thread here http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 05#3897005but didn't really got solved.
I got a link to this page:http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/preferences.htmlbut didn't really found an answer (sorry if I'm clumsy and maybe looking in the wrong place).

So, can someone please tell me step by step how to set Mu.Lab to record at 32 (or 24) bit ?
I use the "Unlimited" (payed) version and I bought it because I thought it can record at 32 bit (in the previous thread the official Mu.Tools answer was :
In fact MU.LAB records the incoming audio in 32 bit anyway, it's a matter of in which bit depth the recorded audio is saved.

By default it's saved in 16 bits because that's the most compatible format."
So, how can I make it to record and save the recorded files at 32 or 24 bit ?

When you do "Mixdown", the "Dynamic resolution" defaults to "16 Bit". Change this to "32 bit" and the file will be saved as 32 bit.

Thanx for the answer.
This I figured out, but what I need is when I record not when I make mixdown.
I often record real instruments (I'm a trumpet player and I play also guitars, both acoustic and electric).
To get the most of "punchiness" you should have the recorded material at the best quality possible, so during processing you can use all the power of plugins. (Don't know if I'm clear enough, sorry, English is not my mother tongue).

Jo's already answered that:

Yep, my English is not... well, you think I want to say what I write, but what I really want to say it's... different...

So, here's an example of what I need:
I plug my guitar in my preamp/soundcard/computer, on the guitar channel I have a amp simulator plugin, and I hit the "record" button.
After I play, the guitar line is saved as a wav file, clean (the effect is in the chain after recording).
The saved wav file is 16 bit, so, when I run it in a sound editing program to clean noise/ retune/ stuff I work with a 16 bit wav file, then the 16 bit file is processed by the effects in Mu.Lab.

I want the original file to be 24 or 32 bit.
with every processing you lose some of the quality of the audio file, I want to have enough margin for processing, so 32 bit would be cool.

It's all written in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/preferences.html

1) Quit MU.LAB
2) Open Mulab/Settings/Mulab.Txt
3) Add the line AudioRecordingIn32BitFloats=1
(or change such line if it already exists with value =0)
4) Save Mulab.Txt
5) Restart Mu.LAB

From now on all recordings will be saved in 32 bit floats.

Well, told you that my English is... and I'm almost always looking in the wrong place

Those are the magic words that I was looking for, thanx.
Now I'll try it, I'll let you know how it's working :)
