Indeed! How ever, you gotta' watch that Mac of BIOnighT dude, as he has hired electrical outlet spies/assassins to eliminate the competition. :troll: You Have Been Warned :D
Hey, I never talked about friendly competitions  :P
(and don't trust Abstractcats either, beware of those who point their fingers, they're the real danger  )

Hey Yeager ( he says as he briefly pops his head up during a lull in the crossfire! ) ... cheers for the submission! :) .... if we cant beat these guys with firepower and tactics, we'll use weight of numbers to our advantage :hihi:

Hey buddy, you cant hide behind a couch and stacks of amps forever :D

Oh! Did I see that you've updated Flex N Stein since the begging of the Xmas comp? I'll need to get the new build if so.
Thanks dude.

No abstractcats, there's no upgrade since 4.01 .... but I do intend to ... still mulling a lot of ideas over, and open to any suggestions.

The main thing I would like to change, other than what I wrote a page or two back, is to have two 'flexiwave' oscs ... with one of those being able to do the FM/PM as well as having an audio out ... all morphable of course. the biggest prob I envisage is that the circuitry involved in the flexiwave osc is fairly substantial and may eat even more cpu. however, there is possibly a good chunk of said circuitry which could be shared by a second flexiwave osc ... so I'll certainly give it a go. The other hitch though, if i replace the current FM/PM osc with a flexiwave osc, I would need to find a way of providing a source of white/pink noise so any optimisation in adding another osc would need to take that into consideration.

It'll really all come down to what is lacking ... as demonstrated by this comp. Straight off, there's the creation of percussive sounds, and the 'anorexia' from having a single osc as the sound source.

I would say its likely that I'll produce more than one upgrade in the next couple of months ... one will address the above issues with a minimum of extra circuitry, ( or even a slight reduction!) and may possibly be lighter on cpu. The other will be geared towards making more of the flexible wave circuitry, improving on it if poss, whilst also adressing the above issues ... but the cpu demand remains a concern.

Anyway, this is verging on OT, I will do a seperate post when I get stuck into developing the beast further, and hopefully pick up some useful advice/collab on it :)

... now back to the war! :hihi:

Something I would like in a new flex, is a random LFO thing.
And maybe a random value on note-on (value range of course set by the A & B settings of the parameters like everything else in the flex) 8)

Also, velocity would be cool to have as something to map to the parameters.

Post

Yeah, a randomiser is well possible :) ... I take it you would like to see this in the morphers and modders section ... applicable to the same range of parameters as the other modders and morphers? ... or would you like to see an element of randomisation ( switchable from lfo to note on ) in addition to the modders and morphers?
It would be easy enough to add an additional randomisation control to each parameter .... the panel could start to look a bit messy though.

Cheers for the suggestion though, I'll have a think about how best to incorporate it. :)

Post

... oh, and on the subject of Vst development, here's the 'cardboard, string and stickyback plastic' version of the participants prize.

I'm probably fairly unique in saying that I think it is largely fine as is. In my OSC entry I hardly scratched the surface of what this thing is capable of.

There are so many routable options it really is pretty fun. 8)

A little phater - maybe if the CPU can same around the same. A little prettier? Well, we can all look a little prettier with a little effort...

...and a trowel :hihi:

Best of luck,
Mouxbar

Post

Cheers Mouxbar! .. I agree, theres a lot can be done with it as it is .... but no probs, 4.01 will remain available :)

I've been thinking about the 'phatter' issue .... wondering if adding some modulated delay/chorus would be easier on cpu than the addition of a second flexiwave osc..... I dunno, I'll try everything! :hihi:

19 hours and 6 mins to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Yeah, exactly that was how I would like to have it. :tu:

Post

That should be fine! ... I wonder how much value folks got out of the second envelope modder .... I suspect that could be cut out in favour of a randomiser which could be synced to host tempo or internal clock ( as with the sequencer ), or to 'note on'
