East West offer for a limited time their "Symphonic Orchestra" for free (I know, it's insane... they know too).

So, as I am into orchestral music, I wanted to try it under Mu.Lab but every time I try it it cause bad crashes, so bad that I get blue screen, so bad that even the blue screen it's scrambled.

So, might be Mu.Lab (but it's really my first problem with plugins under Mu.Lab) or might be my computer.
Please someone else download the plugin and try, maybe we'll figure out this.
Not to say that you'll have a wonderful free plugin ;)

Damn what a huge download...

So already this question: How much RAM does your computer have?

And for my curiosity: Is it on OSX or Windows?

Post

Downloaded this huge package.
Just after launch of installation the setup was aborted with error "1721".
Not a good first impression.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!

I use Win XP, sp3, 2 GB Ram.
The plugin works quite ok under FL, less latency than FL's "Direct Wave".
The crashes goes also when I start Mu.Lab after a memory stressing program (standalone of EW Orchestra of some other memory stressing app like Cakewalk).

Post

Today the plugin loaded in Mu.Lab with no problem... I have no clue what's going on.
Maybe it's my computer.
Can someone else try and tell me how it goes ?

tried yesterday - no problem whatsoever with mutools 2.7

When installing I needed a second go, because I selected "Custom Install" and didnt realize that all options are OFF by default. The installers then look as if they were doing something, but you will not find anything on HD afterwards. Just wanted to mention, its a different problem (and not a real one)...

It really sounds GREAT to me, thanks for the hint!!

Hi

What approximate size is the download?

I did not fancy doing the questionnaire only to find out the download was enormous.

This kind of music genre is not really my cup of tea. But if the download is not too big I may give it a go to help out.

Thanks Eggu.

Looks like [tugg] got it to work in MULAB.

The download sizes are not too bad.

May try later tonight.

You never know even I may have a use for such a beast.

Thanks again.

Hi

Image

Followed the read me that came with the software.

Installed part1, reboot, part2 and then part3.

I used the default install option and default install paths.

Both the standalone player and the VSTi works OK for me in Windows XP.

My tests indicate it works OK in MULAB.

Hm, what a pity that I can't install under Vista,
cause of setup error #1721

Thanx guys for the answer.
Apparently I have problems with memory...
Don't know if I told you, East West offer for a limited time their "Symphonic Orchestra" for free (I know, it's insane... they know too)... Wait, I said that I have problems with memory, MY COMPUTER MEMORY...

So, yeah, when I have Chrome running some programs crash, when I close it EW Symphonic Orchestra works fine under Mu.Lab... I guess no more porn browsing while making music

Finally I managed to get it installed under Vista.
I had to temporary deactivate the vista User Account Control.
Not the way I would prefer, but afterwards it works as stand alone or as plugin in Mu.Lab as well.
(Though this is a free version, the setup seems to install some kind of copy protection deep in the system :-o )

Yep, installing some crap but you can uninstall later, I did and I have no problems.
Also, I figured out that my computer have an issue when running Google Chrome :(

I also am often subject to this problem: it crashes when I use too many plugins.

Too many meaning = four.

But is there a way I can bypass this problem??

Because I really need at least 4 voices, (to work on my harmony homeworks),

like, are there plugings that are less "heavy" for the computer?
